Default Policeman who allowed dogs to die in heat - in court

The case is ongoing at the moment and the officer has been in court.

He was said to be suffering depression and OCD and got distracted for seven hours, by which time the dogs had died.

I don't think it is.

One of the reasons he was 'distracted' was that he had a meeting with his sergeant to discuss it!!! The sad irony of it all!

Has this only got to court now No doubt fitting it in around the very important motoring offences

Personally, I feel very sorry for him. He seemed to love his animals and was careless. Something we are all guilty of, at times. He seems to have gone downhill rapidly since the dogs died.

I didn't really want to pass judgement on this case without knowing the facts, but to leave them in his own car for 7 hours is shocking, the useless **** should have the book thrown at him, he's a disgrace to the force.

He has been found guilty.

Not sure what the sentence will be, or when it will be.

The ex-Officer has apparently been seriously ill due to stress since the event so will probably get a suspended. Screws his 18 years in the force though.

It will be a night shift security jockey now.

I can believe he is suffering form stress, There is a very real job he will lose his pension, job, friends the knock on effect is possibly losing house, cars, family. It must be a very stressful thought, Wrong or right I think I would have to except he is very stressed right now.

As I said at the time, I dont doubt for one second it was an accident, I dont think anyone would suggest he set out to kill the dogs, However its not an excuse and he must be held accountable.

What was his OCD ?

Can police officers serve with OCD`s ?
I thought they were classed as a mental illness

B0ll0cks, when I was depressed my dogs were everything to me, the only thing that kept me anchored in reality.

Pleaded not guilty, don't make me laugh.

Terrible waste of two lives.

Conditional Discharge!!!!

Just shows that the justice system in this country is utter sh*te!!
If that wasn't a copper you could have bet a pension he'd have been jailed.

Atleast the guys face was shown, perhaps someone will give the bast4rd a good hiding.

I think that even not a copper would have got a suspended sentence at most - unless they had a history of animal cruelty.

Not sure if conditional discharge will mean to his job - I am guessing he will be out - but the news commented on an internal disciplinary hearing.

He should have been sent down for his hair style let alone killing two dogs.

Wrong, I have worked on lots of cases involving animal cruelty and I promise you he has got a very stiff sentence compared to what others get.
9 times out of 10 they will get a caution, The fact he is an officer has meant he got a tougher sentence than is normally handed out.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Perhaps it was because he killed 2 in one go.....Perhaps it was because he had Ocd,was crying and depressed ??

Anyone who kills any animal through neglect deserves a little time on there own to contemplate what they have done..

People were put in jail for not paying poll tax and this tw@t walks with a CD....

Pffft....justice my @rse..

I'm a cop in the same force and they can't get rid of me for having depression and anxiety, which is classed as a mental illness.

Could have been worse.
He could have shot some innocent in the head 10 times and got off scot free.
Then had a complete whitewash of an inquest that cost the taxpayer millions, followed by a massive payout to the family of the lawfully killed commuter.
What I can't quite figure out is why someone with OCD didn't keep checking up on the dogs.

if i left my dog in the car for only 10 minutes he would chew everything in the bloody car .the safest place you can leave your dog when leaving them for a period of time is a crate then they cannot hurt themselves
dont care if people think crates are aweful but they keep your dog safe

About 25% of serving officers, PCSO's and DO's in Notts have gone off with stress or depression. The majority are signed off by occupational health. the OHU told me to get to the doctors, recognising only part of the problem.

Does it excuse him for leaving the dogs in the car for seven hours? I doubt it. However, Notts is so bad that anyone who has made it above the rank of constable is trying to shaft everyone else, just to ensure their pension. So as you've seen, this (ex) officer was due to meet his superiors, I expect he was being stitched up beforehand and this just worked out nicely in favour of our employers.u

Not that I don't trust them or anything

Justice here has gone to the dogs (no pun intended).

Set free to straighten his towels or wash his hands fifty times a day... Poor dab.

Leaving them to die slowly over 7 hours is not a lapse or any accident caused by factors beyond his control; it is callous cruel disregard of an obvious and so should be actually punished.

No doubt he'll be banned from roasting Alsatian for ooohh at least 18 months.

Another one to chalk up to UK Joke Justice.

I am sorry for him that is he is suffering from depression etc., but the priority of the moment was the welfare of those two poor dogs. What an awful way to die that must have been for them. That was his primary job, taking care of those dogs and there is no way he can be excused for "forgetting" that they were shut up in the car.

he deserves what he gets.
