Default Anyone work in the Tyre industry?

Basically I'm looking for someone who works within the Tyre industry.

Either a Tyre fitter, Tyre fitting business owner, work for a Tyre manufacturer or within the distribution network.

If you can PM me please.

Not looking to buy Tyres. Thinking of setting up a Tyre fitting Business. Just after some questions regarding the industry.

I know the someone who works at the largest wholesaler in the North of England. Bonds in York - they literally work in hundreds of thousands of tyres supplied.

If you set up in business where you are that is the most likely supplier to you.

I have a mate who buys 2 container loads of tyres at a time, and they are from america and MUCH cheaper than any uk or european wholesaler!

I was told this the other day by a mate who is thinking about opening a tyre shop. His mate who has a tyre shop told him the following so i'm not sure on the accurracy of the info.....

Apparently tyres can be bought part worn in Germany for £5 a pop, something to do with the legal tread limit being different and the requirement to change to winter tyres.

He says this guy is selling them for £20 a pop, so cheap for the customer and a good mark up for him.

(again, i've no idea if this is true or not but thought it might be useful to you)

Well, certainly not looking for that ATM.

Just wanting general info regarding most popular Tyre size, brand, price etc.

Have had a look at renting a property, looked at buying the equipment needed, and have guestimated running / overhead costs etc.

Only thing to look at is Liability Insurance. Would expect this to be the biggest overhead TBH. That's just based on what we currently pay for the Business I'm in.

I can then work out the profit margins from there.

Obviously it will all be properly worked out before starting up anything, but just enquiring ATM.

All this has come a bit sudden. Dad retired last year due to ill health. Owns most of the business, and to cut a long story short, his Business partner is trying to do him out of money. Wants on only pay about a third of the true value (even though my old man cut the value by £500,000 in the first place) so if this can't be sorted (which I don't think it will) then his only option is to wind the company up. Meaning I'm out of a job.

His business partner is trying to feed of my Dads ill health. Hoping my old man will give in, due to it making him very ill. The guy keeps cancelling meetings, disagreeing with everything, and not believing accountants on the Value. Dad has hardly eaten in a week, as it's making him ill.

Even if the sale goes through, I don't think I want to work here anymore. Bad taste in my mouth, and I'm not the sort to grin and bear it, and keep my mouth shut. Having to ATM though.

That's great.

My comment is based on the facts that Bonds supply most tyre suppliers in the North of the UK and are dealing in many more tyres than a couple of container loads.

If you can arrange your own supply chain then all well and good
