B2 v TomTom for camera alerts.
Considering changing from my trusty Origin B2 to a TomTom, (possibly something like the 750), for camera alerts.
Love the functionality of the B2, easy cradle mount, auto switch on and once it locks on you’re covered. Worried that the TomTom won’t be as good in this area, either using the live TT updates or a third party database. Once you power up, does it automatically drop into a camera alert mode ? or do you have to tap away on the screen ?
Are the TT alerts audible as well as visual ?

I have an XL IQ, not Live!
Easy screen mount, yes. But it always falls off once due to the cold air getting warmed up in the mount (I think). No autoswitch on. Camera alerts on automatically. Audible alerts given, with a selection of sounds available.
Volume seems to be speed related but not sure on that point.
Other than warning about SPECS on the motorway that had been recently removed, I've found it to be pretty reliable. But I wouldn't rely on any of these devices 100%.

I like my Garmin, but one thing it isn't good for is cameras. I've had it for a year or so and there's only just recently been an update for it. First time I went to Aberdeen it was telling me one of the speed cameras on the duel carraigeway just on the outskirts was a 40mph camera. I was obviously approaching it at 70 and slammed the brakes on when it beeped. Lol, the people behind me weren't too happy. It must have been set to 40 when roadworks were there previously.

I've got a new TomTom and I don't find the camera database to be a patch on the B2.
I particularly like the way the B2 gives directional warnings for cameras, my TomTom doesn't.
One thing the TomTom has in it's favour is that it also alerts for Traffic light cams in my area.
