Quick Fix Diets
#1
I gave up smoking at New Years and haven't touched a cancer stick since. However, the by-product seems to be an extra 1" round the middle (10lbs to be precise).
Does anyone know of any quick fix diets i can use to ditch the extra baggage before my trip to Thailand with my girl in July?
I realise that crash dieting is not the best and that generally people say you will put it back on but as i do a lot of cycling during spring/summer months, i know with an improved diet i can get in shape and keep it that way.
So what diet do i try, lo carb, hi protein ..... ??????

Um start smoking again?
The truth is its going to be difficult to lose weight in the waist area without working out. I normally just recommend excercise to lose/gain weight. Or you could get my flu and look dehydrated like I did last week when I met up with pmorlock.

i worked in a gym for 10 years- did every type of training know to man! did body building (up to 19 stone ripped) did a marathon( dropped about 3-4 stone for that) and everything in between.
also did every diet, normal supplement and err...not so readily avalible supplement BUT nothing dropped my weight quicker than the low carb diet.
i was going through a cant be bothered to train phase- put on a few pounds, saw geri halliwell video- asked my wife how she got so thin, she said she did low carb, i tried it- still no exercise- and lost about 1 1/2 inch of my waist before geri left the top 10!!!
after 6 weeks i went back to a more normal diet (although still much lower carbs than normal) - comon sense really, ppl think that pilling 2 kg of rice or past on the plate is good eating is like putting 200 litres of petrol in the car- petrol is good but too much will still spill over!

Try cutting out the crap... no chocolate, no crisps and no drinking... except for one day a week perhaps.
Although it doesn't work if you then have 10pints and 30 chocolate bars on that one day..
My worst thing is boredom.. I sit here at my desk and get bored so go and get chocolate bar from the machine. I am not over weight but thats because I have to work at it...
Try having salads instead of meals...

i've been on diet tablets for a month and lost over 1 and half stone, they are called cuts III and can be ordered over the internet. The stop you craving food and help to kill the fat in your body.

Lets get this into perspective guys, i'm not a total lard ***, just not as CUT as i'd like to be. I'm average build with good muscle mass, 6'3" tall and weigh 14 1/2 stone.
Tiggs - Please could you let me know the detail of the Lo Carb diet you followed. Sounds just the ticket.

I have lost a stone in a month, joined a new gym, stopped boozing for lent (not religous, just convenient) and cut out the crap.
Crash diets dont work, you lose water and muscle but not much fat.
I find that waiting 20 mins after eating before having anything else (pudding) helps as usually I forget !
I am not doing much in the way of weights at the gym which is what I used to do, Swimming, cycling and running seems to work
Have lapsed a bit this week, had the snip and I dont fancy running much for some reason.......

Low fat, low calorie is the key. Forget crash diets etc. Your body uses 95g of fat a say, and burns about 2500 calories.
Therefore, if you half your intake of both you will naturally lose weight. You only lose 2lbs a week, but this is the healthy maximum. I have been doing it for a while now, and have nearly lost a stone in total.
Aim to eat about 40g fat, and 1800 calories a day - it is this fine balance that you have to get right, and you need to understand whats in the food you are eating.
Tablets are stupid, so dont go that route.
