How are they allowed to get away with this?
I have been looking for some saucepans and found a Morphy Richards set with really good reviews in Argos for half price.
Buy Morphy Richards 5 Piece Blue Stainless Steel Pan Set. at Argos.co.uk
They were sold out everywhere so i asked Argos if they could find me any, they suggested contacting Morphy Richards and ask them if they could send me some. MR told me they do not sell pans but that Argos are allowed to use the MR name when selling pans and have been allowed to for years.
I called Argos back to see how this could be and they told me that they pans are made in Asia for Argos!!!
How is this allowed? You think you are buying something with a name that you trust and its cheap sh1te from Asia.

So, you jumped out of the Frying Pan into the .......
That's quite shocking to learn, but we are in a global market ..... nothing to say that the Chinese Pans won't be every bit as good as Pans you would get from anywhere else? Those 9 year old Chinese children are pretty good at knocking things up!

So pandemonium ensued in Argos? Was their a series of panic buying? Have you decided to blow the lid off the whole scandal?
Or will you look for a cheap chinese import and wok on your cooking?

Sara........... back on topic LOL
I recently moved house and since we had a new kitchen I bought a set of Morphy Richards pans.....the quality was shocking !! bits would chip off and the cream colour outsides would melt onto the hob !!
After 3 visits to Argos for replacements I went for some more Tefal Jobbies OK, the advert had the guy with a huge forehead but the last set soldiered on for 10 years !!

I think I'd have been tipped off to the fact I wasn't buying premium pans when I realised I get getting a 5 piece set for 20-notes. That said, I take your point.
It works the other way though....I was one of the guys that bought a Technosonic (or some sh*t) 32" LCD TV from Woolies for £400 (back when that was dirt cheap for a 32") and the TV was in fact a rebadged Thomson that retailed at £999 just a month or so earlier.

Damn i have spent 15quid on a cheap wok, might as well pay the 20quid for a good one (may have been tefal), it has worked flawlessly ever since, the none stick coating is still on the pan, the handle is still on the pan, it has not went rusty, its easier to clean, worth spending the extra, lesson learned.
There is a shop near me that sells "good" pans, some french make, me and the missus, on our new "good pans are worth it crusade" called in one day while out shopping, we have never seen anybody in the shop before and have always walked past it, **** me the prices were crazy 100quid + for a single pan WTF!?!
We will stick with the tefal jobbies LOL

I have never understood why they make stainless frying pans, there is no way you can fry an egg and get it out in one piece.

I dont know why MR would allow their name to be used on inferior products, it cant be good for their reputation. If i had some MR pans that were crap i wouldnt go out and buy a MR electrical product. My thinking would be that if they cant even make a decent set of pans then i wouldnt trust their name.
