Headlight Washer Jets
Evening all
Just purely out of curiousity, those with headlight washer jets on your cars do you think they make any difference at all?.
Got them on mine but never really thought about it, with the xenons it always seems good visibility no matter what weather.

They used to make a big difference on my old Legacy, the difference is marginal at best on the wife's Honda CRV.
I think a lot depends on how good the lights are in the first place and the angle of the lenses to be honest. Those on the Legacy were really good, but the lenses were vertical and caught a lot of muck, the lights on the CRV are **** to start with, but the lenses have quite a slope to them and road dirt tends not to stick anyway.

I think the only time they are useful is when you run out of water in your windscreen washer bottle. Put your foot down and then use the headlamp spray as they always keep a residue in there and if you are going fast enough the overspray manages to clean your windscreen...just the once

My classic WRX doesn't have headlight washer jets, and the lights do get dirty - especially at this time of year!
In the recent weather, I've given the lenses a quick wipe before most journeys. The salt/dirt does build up quite quickly, and with the heat from the bulbs, it forms dry crust on the lens. I drive with my lights on all the time at this time of year, and therefore the dirt builds up on most journeys.
In the past, on long drives, I have had to stop specifically to clean the lights so I could see where I was going!
So, if washers mean you don't have to constantly clean the lenses, they must be doing some good!
