Default Senior civil servants think PM is useless

Nothing in this we didn't already know, but amusing nonetheless - pretty forthright statements against the dysfunctional idiots currently in government and their lack of control of the government debt - imagine what their statements looked like before they were watered down for publication!

The Institute for Government recorded a series of anonymous interviews with senior civil servants, most of whom have worked for Labour throughout its 13 years in power. The Sunday Times has seen interviews given to the institute that are considered too frank for inclusion in the final report and has also spoken to officials.
I think this is verging on a vote of no confidence

Would be interesting to see which parts of the civil sector the complainants came from...some of which are massively over bloated, whilst others massively under-funded and badly structured.

Biting the hand that feed springs to mind; I'm sure a good leader would have high interest in cutting civil sector bloat = middle/upper management job cuts. And to them that kind of restructuring would be as popular as Brown himself. And any hard line PM would clearly give a top-level servant that objects or fails to sort out their own department the boot, that would never happen though; There's more backscratching than backs to scratch!

They have employed scads of extra civil servants in order to reduce the unemployment figures and to get more support for themselves as well. Bit like buying votes really.

I don't see while the politicians should be protected by not publishing the interviews. They are employed by us to run the country and we have a right to know if their performance is rubbish from the point of view of those interviewed since they have to work with them.

Why suppress the interviews then?

Thats because 533239 were too useless and they didn't ask my other half either.

Sadly she's not senior or we'd be laughing.

From "Yes Minister"

We dare not allow politicians to establish the principle that senior civil servants can be removed for incompetence. We could loose dozens of our chaps. Hundreds maybe. Even thousands.

Having been a Labour voter and party member since I could vote (a long long time) like my father before me, I must admit this PM is the worst we have ever had. He is disliked by not only the public but his own party and the whole of the Cabinet. I know my local (Socialist) MP very well, having gone to school together, his family are our friends. He is on several committees and has nothing but concern for our PM. He feels that Gordon should go as their chances in the next election are slim if he remains. Being such a poor statesman means he surrounds him self with 'no hopers' although pleasingly it seems one or two of his people are reasonable, what happens when you've used up most of the dumb ones.

We need to continue with a socialist Government, but not with this clown in charge.

What we really need is a government which will work for the good of this country and all the people in it.

Old Labour was at least fairly honest, especially just after the war and they did a lot for the country even if, like all socialist governments, they are very good at ruining the economy. As soon as Wilson appeared on the scene, he was a slimy chararacter and Labour and the country suffered accordingly because of his antics. Labour governments after that were even more useless!

NL has been a disaster for this country-we only have to take a long unbiased look at the way the country is now to see that. We are effectively bankrupt and going further down the tubes. We have a top heavy, expensive and incompetent administration and they cannot give our tax money away fast enough regardless of the problems which need to be put right in this country. They have destroyed the spirit and morality of the country and are scheming to hand us over to the Eu in totality. They have assumed the name of the Labour party for their own convenience and democracy has died the death.

I dont have leanings towards any particular party, I am only concerned with the good of this country and to maintain it as its own entity. I dont see any sign of that just at the moment.

The thing that stumps me is why are they doing it? Okay a few of them will get their autobiography deals and back handers, but why run the country into the ground? How on earth do they benefit?

By undermining our culture and traditions etc., the country becomes more divided and weaker, so it is easier to federate us with the Eu and get their rewards.

The current government is capitalist anyway!

(The clue is that we have no state owned industries, barring a few inherited legacies and the pruchase of a few banks - which Labour will sell at the first viable opertunity).

Is true socialism communism? Is so there arent many communist states left, and the ones that are dont offer much in the way of freedom for their people.

Perhaps we do need a change from New Labour, UKIP, Conservatives, Nick Cleggs lot (what are they called?) but I dont think we are ready for the BNP yet.
