Default Jees 2500 calories doesn't get you far

As part of my health kick and NY resolution of getting fit and loosing the paunch, I decided I'd tot up the calories eaten today.

Who made the figure up of 2500 for the average man??? It gives you nothing.

By the time I go to bed tonight, I will have eaten 3500 calories, suppose the good news is my weight is stable so I must me burning most if not all of it.

I thoght it was 2500 for women and 3000 for men. If you are exercising or do a physical job you could get away with more.

Sitting on my *** in the office, the only exercise I get is walking to and from car, up and down 2 flights of stairs going for smokes, and up and down stairs at the flat again for smokes and wandering around the archery club 1 day a week.

just try to eat small healthy meals more during the day. 5-6 small is better than 3 large meals. keeps the metabolisum working constantly with out it just not being able to cope with the amounts eaten

lol 2500 gets you plenty!
What have you had today then to crank it up so high?

I have had cereal @ 250cals and a cottage pie at 450. Done an hour of cardio and 40 mins of weights at the gym on that, and been at work all day.
Tonights dinner will be chicken breasts and a pitta bread, so still way under 2500.

PS as for the exercise, just go for a mild evening walk.

Cause its not 5.30 so how did you do 1 hour 40 mins exercise then there is travel to and from exercise place on top of that?

2500 is a lot, here are some calorie values for typical takeaway

Medium deep pan pizzahut chicken supreme 1506cals
Big Mac meal 820cals
BK Whopper 634cals

Now im not suggesting you eat the above on a health kick but a medium deep pan pizza is a LOT of food and would still leave 1000 cals for lunch/breakfast

Not every person in Britain finishes at 5.30.

He might do 6-2, or any other combination of hours.

Thats for your AVERAGE man. everyones different. To get an accurate measure of how many calories you need per day, your need to calculate your BMR or RMR and create a deficit from that.

if you wana get fit, look at P90X

I've had:

cereal - 200cals
ham sanny - 275cals
babybell light - 45cals
beans on two slices of toast - 500cals
Milk in teas - 50cals

Still to come:

muller light - 100cals
Tunnocks Tea Cake - 110cals

That should put me on about 1300 for the day. Given I work from home, am inactive, and I'm trying to lose weight - that's probably not bad. Boring as **** though

Don't forget drinks when totting up. I drink non-calorie drinks during the day but milk, coke, diluting juice, etc all mounts up.

Not all calories are created equal.
Last night I had a huge plate of mixed veg, brown rice and two fillets of basa - less calories than beans on toast but probably more filling.

I lost weight when I started looking at what a proper portion size actually was - my OH was horrified when I weighed out 75g of rice, he was used to eating double that at least.

Jump on a cross trainer and try and burn off 2500 calories - you'll see just how much effort it takes!!! Have a cardiac team on standby....

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd breathe!

I work abnormal hours for personal reasons. I quite easily managed to fit in the said routine, and was at work when I posted it. Blimey, suspicious or what

PS, without being too complex about it.... I went before work lol. Not rocket science is it?

Wrighty, its not high impact or anything, and is split into 2 sessions, 1 as a warm up, one as a cool down from weights. Only a short term regime.

Dedrater, cheers, spot on mate. Some people eh lol

lol amen to that. With rough working out, on the very basic maths of the machines, it takes 7 mins to do 100 calories, at pretty high intensity. **** trying to rack up 2500. On a really hard push, I can manage 1000, split between x trainer and treadmill. Again, using the rough guide of the machines.

you dont have to burn 2500calories per day as your calorie intake would be 0 or very lttle if you burn 500 calories 3 times a week in the gym and stick to a healthy 2500 calorie a day diet you will loose weight simples.

Well, I only cleared the immediate driveway, not the whole of it and certainly not as far as the gatehouse!

By the way, loft extension going in next month
