Swine Flu - That was the year!
Early in 2009 it was predicted that 65,000 people would die in the UK due to Swine Flu.
The final shocking number was less than 300. I feel for those that were lost, and grateful for the complete over estimation of fatalities.

I was going to Google the figures, but I trust you.
UK Government with NHS in their @rse pocket would deliberately fan such fire e.g. scare people with over-estimation of anything nasty they can get their hands on like Swine Flu, to divert people's attention from another chronic disease called Tories, I think. Anyway, at least hand gel companies minted money in 2009, hey! I bet Labour pandemic got some commission from them too, and they gave 3rd of it to Tory pandemic.

Has Swine Flu Been Blown Out Of Proportion? - ABC News
"... A new analysis, using H1N1 deaths in the United States in the spring and projecting likely outcomes for this fall, shows that a typical -- or possibly even a milder flu season than average -- should have been expected ...."
And it seems like there are millions of doses of vaccine that have been ordered but not used so I guess we'll have the scare-mongering for a while yet!

Got a letter in the post 2 days ago requesting our 2 year old attends the gp surgery for her swine flu vaccine. Not a chance i'm afraid as she is not being one of the Governments guinea pigs. According to our gp we all had swine flu back in July anyway so the vaccine's a bit late!

I even got the injection since I was put on the needy list.
The nurse said I might have a sore arm and when I said I might get a bit of sympathy at home she said that washing up and hoovering was good therapy!

Govenrments use scaremongering from time to time. Remember mad cows disease? that was going to wipe out half the population at one point!
then there was that global warming thing that turned out to be a load of rubbish as well.
