How Much Are You Paying?
For your tipple in your local?
I posted this question a few years ago; so time to re-do as so many boozers have gone to the wall.
My nearest pub is a hotel, and a **** take on prices.
Hoegaarden £4.40
Peroni (draught) £4.18
Guiness £3.75
Heineken £3.75
Kron... £3.72
Stella £3.70
Bitters are all around £3.60.
And they wonder why they are going out of business.
Prices I quote are for an affluent area of Surrey, but still a joke. I don't venture out much anymore.
I remember when people moaned about the £2 a pint being broken.

Wrexham (North Wales)
Not affluent obviously and my local is not the closest pub to me, but, shamefully, is a two4one. No idea on prices apart from Kronenberg which = £2.80ish

Coed y Glyn, Green Park, Garden Village, Rossett, Overton, Erbistock all nice areas
Anyway, Swindon my local is 2.85 for Carling, 2.95 for Stella/1664. We have some local bitters arund the 2.40-2.60 mark.
Two other places I go to, one is Carling at 2.95. The other is 2.30.
The latter is packed solid as you'd imagine, nice pub but no atmosphere. Doesn't have a juke box or football on the TV and is more of a food pub although no kids allowed. No Sky is probably why the beers are cheap.

In Liverpool town centre I can pay upto £2.80 for my bottle of BabyCham, but if I go to a local pub, say on linedancing night I pay less, usually £2.20 a bottle.
I do preffer to go into the Liverpool wine bars though, as you pay more but the plastic/chrome/veneer surroundings are much more pleasing on the eye. And some even stock CherryB which is another favorite of mine.
Cheers.

I'm from Wrexham too..... just don't live there anymore. I moved to Wolverhampton. Not sure which place is better.
As for drinking in the pub..... WHAT and WHERE is a pub? I have not been to a pub for a 'proper' drink for ages, mine is usually a coke or some water!
I tend do get 4 cans of Breaker and enjoy them for the very reasonable price of £2.99.

Its £2.70 a pint in our local opp in Scotchland. Trouble is it is only nitro keg Belhaven. decent enough but not a decent handpull pint.
Not sure about lager, tend not to drink it but i would guess £2.85 for Tennants etc.

My village pubs are around £3.60 pint for bitter. My local rough old social club charges £2.20 for the same beer and keeps it really well. This is South Downs, Sussex. My boy is in Dublin and says Guiness is around 6 Euros a pint.

MattW, I only pop back now and then. I took the scoob for a blast around there a few months back. It was nice being on familiar roads for a change, and just being able to drive and know where I was going. A bit of Lane bashing blew the cobwebs away!

Haven't been back for ages, they like their speedcams there now, not like the old days.

It's full of blokes with shaved heads that carry a faint whiff of BO though.
Not been back to the motherland for a while, so not sure about northern prices....
