London travel fares rise.... TWENTY PERCENT!!
Or twenty pence as the average non political, non dramatic might say
Is 20p such a shocking rise for a singe journey on a bus? Personally I think not, but some of the drama and comments on local forums would have you thinking that its tripled or something.
Imagine it was 3%, how annoyed would people be with such an odd figure lol.
Congestion Charge rising to £10 too, with a £1 a day discount for users of the automated payment system.
Of course Boris is now scum for daring to make such changes

There is an easy solution that I feel alot of Londeners forget:
....Move out of London and go up north.
You won't have any public transport to moan about the fares, and you will have a surplus of cash due to the cheaper property so you can buy and run a car instead.
Simples

Londoners leave London?
Can't you remember the crying, gnashing of teeth and the sulks they had when it was proposed to build the new national stadium at, or near the NEC?
"How will WE get to see matches?" they all screamed, forgetting the HUGE journeys most of us have to make if WE want to see England play

I think if more people questioned, and complained, then had a bit of civil unrest, they might think twice about uncalled-for massive, above infation rises in prices.
But the stoical British public will just bend over and get shafted

lol 20p per trip aint really getting shafted is it?
Considering it was once higher, but reduced by the one and only Ken before leaving power.
Ali, what a great solution that is NOT lol
I for one could not care less about the rise, just amazed at how many are.
lol @ "a bit of civil unrest" yeah that will sort it out.
As for Londoners leaving London, by all accounts we are leaving in droves lol.
But from my perspective.... No thanks, im fine where I am lol
North indeed, cant understand a word they say!

LT dont need disrupting, it can do that all on its own, or with the help of the drivers going on strike left right and centre.

well. im a london bus driver. as many of you know. i can honestly say that there are more fare evaders out there than people who pay. more and more people are getting on the back doors and sneaking through. and of course when the oyster bleeps that there is no money they just carry on, and dont listen to me calling them back.
i just let revenue deal with them. but as is always the case, where are revenue when you need them.
i would certainly say that more than 50% of people dont pay for the bus ride, yet i bet its the fare evaders who complain about the increase. lol.

Sounds about right to me mate, and I dont blame you for not saying anything to them either, just aint worth it these days.
Again, another thing that has to be taken into account with the rising cost.
As much as I hate buses and travelling on them, £1-£1.20 is still brilliant value for the journey I do.
Anyone saying £1.20 for 3 stops is a rip off.... should learn to walk and leave the spaces for people travelling a proper distance. Not the pikey benefit scroungers who stop hop! Lazy arseholes!

the lazyness is increadible matey. im talking one stop. purely insane! its so increadibly frustrating seeing them walk on for free but i cant do anything. try controlling 50 people getting off the back doors as loads are pileing past them aswell as the crowds at the front doors. and thats not including bendy buses, with 3 sets of doors.

My pet hate is people who stand on the stairs giving the impression there are no seats available upstairs, because the cant be bothered to climb the stairs or dont wanna sit next to other people.
Either way, for a PROPER trip.... a quid is a bargain lol
I hope you are one of the ones that can actually drive lol, and know how to brake!

I know dude, I see it daily, on for one stop. And stand in the way of the rest of the seats etc just so they can get back off the bus at the next stop.

NO ONE, EVER, lets the bus pull out. so,.... fine. i sit and wait at every single bus stop when im pulling out. sit there with the indicator on and wait for a space. beleive me it takes ages. EVERY stop. doing this then makes me VERY VERY late. because they never give us enough time to get around the trip. (thats another story). so, when i get to the terminus wherever that may be, the controllers at the base tell me to miss out part of the trip and go 'not in service' to where they want me to go, to be back on time. simples.
so i have less work to do and im not stressed at drivers not letting me go. and i finish on time. . and to boot, more and more people get fooked off with the buses not running so they stop using the bus. suits me fine.

Although I hate your plan when they do what they did last night and terminated at Camberwell I was pissed about that!
Ali, 75% of LT drivers do that anyway, its clearly not as fun as it used to be. Besides the buses are so packed, no one gets thrown any distance.
