A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Sgt Nicholas Clarke, 48, had been charged with one count of rape.
His wife Joanne, 48, who is a civilian member of staff for the police force, has been charged with sexual assault on a female and supplying cannabis.

Hmmm. Number of possibilities and odd that there isn't more to the story than that.
3rd person took a liking to one or other and when that person wouldn't leave the relationship, 3rd person called rape.
Blackmail and the couple refused to co-operate.
"I was drunk and stoned and they raped me" - I'd be surprised if that was the whole story.
