im leaning towards an iomega screenplay, on a cabinet near the telly and the mdmi lead going up the conduit and into the telly, playing vids photos and music, has anyone come across any pitfalls or problems with this.
it will run into a 32" cheapish lcd telly

This has just been released.
Western Digital WDBAAP0000NBK-EESN WD-TV Live MKV/H.264/.ISO, 1080P (+More) Media Player - See Spec - Scan.co.uk
No hard drive though so you'd need to network it or plug an external one in.

I have an Inoi media HDD from Maplins. Cheap and cheerful with 500gb, USB, 720p via component and digital audio through coax for £130. It currently has a couple of hundred movies, a couple of thousand pics and 1000+ MP3's and is only half full still. There are much better ones out with HDMI, 1080p, bigger drives etc, but I'd go for a Mac Mini next time.
