Question do you buy Tesco VALUE products?

If so, which do you have and waht do you think to them?

We have...

TESCO VALUE:

Crisps -----------(I like them as less salty flavour than Walkers)
Potatoe Rings -----------(crisps.. I think taste better than Hula Hoops)
Cheddar Cheese Slices -----------(cheese is cheese?)
Chopped Tin Tomatoes ---------------(tomatoes are tomatoes!)
Beans -----------------------------------(added to spag bol or chilli.. or on toast, taste fine)
Lard ------------------------------------------(lards lard)

no shame in it

Tried tescos value crisps, they were dead on if not a bit overly oily to the feel.

Tescos do a lovely Microwave Mash with cheddar that is un****ingreal! Better tasting that some of the tatt you get a restaurants around.

I only ever buy value brand for when my Brother comes to visit.

I'll have a lovely Speckled Hen / Kronenbourg 1664 and offer him a 10p value lager / bitter.

It's only because he'll turn up for a visit (4 or 5 days min) over Xmas / Bank hols etc totally empty handed.

He helped himself to a bottle of rather fine wine once and glugged it down like it was ribena!

I was NOT impressed.

It tastes more like water than lager!

I get the value veg. It tastes the same but is often misshapen.

The butter is fine too.

The beans are crap! The actual beans are the same but the sauce is so thin and tasteless. I do get the Tesco own brand beans and they are 90% as good as Heinz.

I just over boil them so the sauce thickens up as the water content evaporates up

Me and the Mrs use Asda and buy plenty of their "Smart Price" stuff. That and a keen eye for the bargains means we eat well and feed ourselves for about £80 every 2 weeks.

Sod all this Waitrose and M&S stuff

All our snacks in our house are tesco value due to the fact that why waste money on more expensive stuff, when it gets eaten within the first day of going shopping! Lol

On the plus side, theyre really not bad at all

We do our shopping between ASDA and Tesco generally(little bits in ALDI). Don't buy the value/smart price items, but a fair bit of our shopping is the normal own brand stuff.

We buy Value products but some are OK some aren't so good.

ALL Tesco ready meals are inedible IMO and even the finest range is borderline.

There is also a point worth making in that in some cases it is only the packaging that is different- particularly the meats. The supermarkets play on our vanity when at the checkout and one person has Value everything and the other has Finest everything. Its as if it says something about you.

I bought a tesco value toothbrush earlier this week when I was away on business and forgot one, and 2 value toothbrushes were 10p and I reckon they're better than the Colgate brush I forgot and thats just under £3 for one...

Wouldnt touch anything in the OP's list, other than maybe the cheese slices tho.

The deli curries are lovely!

They are often my reward, with a few beers, for doing the Friday evening shop.
