You can blame anything on Global Warming now....
I saw a news story today, blaming global warming for the fact that South of the country is sinking in to the sea, but Scotland is rising. This is because of the iso-static rebound effect caused by retreating ice sheets after the last ice age.
They admit it's because of this, but blame global warming. So, as we didn't start to produce an CO2 until well after the ice sheets had receded, how exactly did they come to this startling conclusion?
I remember covering iso-static rebound in school at A-level Geology, long before anyone had even thought of AGW......... I wonder what old load of **** they will come up with next?
Geezer

Listen carefully...
<flame suit>
Global warming is a myth perpetrated by worldwide governments to a) put fear into the masses and b) raise taxes by stealth.
Climate change, however, is amongst us. Whether humanity is contributing (nothing, some, lots) is up for debate and has doubtless been covered in other threads. Could be this lump of rock we live on is just doing its thing.

I wait to be corrected by those who know, or think they know, more than me
BOB.T is right though

I think our own climate is going back to how it was years ago anyway.

I watched a documentary on the New OceanLiner the Queen Mary the other night and my missus commented that building a boat that big and putting it in the sea must contribute to the rise in sea level. lol

And for those of us in the *oh so slightly sceptical' camp we now have Ministers target climate change doubters in prime-time TV advert - Times Online
"... Ministers sanctioned the campaign because of concern that scepticism about climate change was making it harder to introduce carbon-reducing policies such as higher energy bills ..."
So, let's get this straight. The electorate doesn't agree that something is necessary so the government, *as voted in by the electorate*, spends £6M of the *electorates* money on changing their minds so that it's easier for them to charge us, the *electorate*, more money ....
The sooner the election comes the better. Even better would be a modern day Cromwell to empty the whole House of Commons and make them walk the plank into the Thames. Oh wait, it is empty, they're still on their summer holidays ...

One of those links was a story in New Scientist that global warming will change the tilt of the Earth's axis.
The science behind it sounds fairly plausible, but, the Earth's sea level was a few hundred metres lower than it is today during the last ice age, so surely there should be evidence of a disasterous shift in the axis after that. There simply is not......

Victor Meldrew here! Complaint sent. Based on the fact they say/imply heavily that 40% of co2 is man-made. Cr*p is it ....... I wonder how they'll respond?

I complained to the ASA for the very same reason, the highest estimate I have read for man made CO2 is 3% of the total in the atmosphere, but other sources suggest about 0.3%, to say it is over 40% is just ludicrous!
How the hell do they get away with it?

Don't know, I've never complained before. I only did it this morning, then thought I'd come on here to see if anyone was discussing it.
It would be brilliant to get a load of complaints about this blatant lie, then the government might be forced to reveal their sources.

I also asked the government direct what their source was, but haven't had a reply!

Just the first 2 lines prove what a crock of sh*t the government's over 40% claims are:
Just how much of the "Greenhouse Effect" is caused by human activity?
It is about 0.28%, if water vapor is taken into account-- about 5.53%, if not.

Found this link from another site ... A bedtime story about drowning kittens and puppies... Labour's £6m campaign to highlight the dangers of climate change | Mail Online
"... This is the Government's controversial television commercial about the dangers of global warming, which has led to more than 200 complaints being lodged with the Advertising Standards Authority ..."
Excellent news! More than just the two of us then.
