Recomend an electric heater!
I'm wanting a portable electric heater, i don't want to spend a fortune but i don't want a cheapo one either. Ideally a timer on it too, i've been looking and there is bloody loads of choices and don't really get the KW rating etc(although i know its the power i don't know what difference it makes to heat) and wether oil filled is the way to go or not
All its for is for the bedroom as the central heating is going to be off soon for a couple of months due to having some work done, so i'll only have the fire downstairs and whatever i get for the bedroom.
Thanks for any help.
Aaron

hi azz, hows it going bud. quite good with this from my days as a single lad in flats etc etc. (glad thats behind me now). oil filled is definately the way forward (the plug in radiator type) MUCH more economical than your blower fan electric jobbie. better again though is to invest in a calor gas heater and some good curtains and door insulators, down side though is you need ventilation for this route so taking to the bedroom and leaving on overnight is not the best idea, (athough i did do this once or twice after a sesh lol). ideal option though imo is 1. decent curtains and draught proofing 2. calor gas heater for instant warmth to a room (coming in from work/ going into the bedroom and heating there up) 3. oil filled radiator to maintain the heat put in by the calor gas heater.
this might seem fairly costly to initially sort out. but you should be able to borrow these or get them 2nd hand if you look hard enough. not forgetting they are always handy to have in the shed anyway just in case.

We have two of these in the bedrooms in France for when it's cool enough to need some heat, and not enough to heat the whole house.

Hard to beat the joy of getting into a warm bed out of a freezing room
Agree with oil filled rad comments as well.
