Default Shower Enclosures - wtf?

A part of my shower cubicle frame snapped off over the weekend and its looking a bit worse for wear in places.

So was in B&Q getting some decking oil yesterday and had a quick mooch at new enclosures. Holy sh*t batman - the cheapest I saw was £700 and some were £2k+.

Why are they so expensive - 2 panes of glass and a metal frame? Most didnt even include the floor pan. Do tibetan monks own the patent for these things?

I have a standard type shower but the door frame was looking a bit tacky so I thought I would be able to get a new one for £30 or so. It's just an aluminium frame after all.

But I couldn't believe the sort of prices I was quoted - getting on for £200 ffs.

Seems they are all taking the p,iss

David.........that could well be because most of that stuff is made abroad, specifically the EC, and with Gordon's Puny Pound, prices have skyrocketed.

We are slowly doing up a house in France, prices have hardly altered there, but our £ buys so few € now it's ridiculous

And we were told the € was a weak currency.

Got one from clickbathrooms in Sheffield a few weeks ago - very good price and the quality was ok too. It was cheaper than ebay and I could pick it up (work in Sheffield) which saved me delivery on top!
