Default Help from someone in Manchester UK please.

There are a couple of things I'd like to ask questions about.
The first is the most important. My wife HUGE Manchester United fan so I spent about a month trying to figure out the best way to buy tickets. Called the official team ticket number, they wanted to sell me one of their packages, and I wasn't sure that's what we really wanted to do.
Then I found this website unitedticketagency.com, had multiple email contacts with the guy, Dave, the seats he had were mid-field second tier. Paid the guy through PayPal and everything was confirmed he got his money and all. He sent me pictures of a view from the seats at Uniteds first game. I then replied asking when he would be sending our tickets to me. He replied that the tickets for the game, April 3rd 2010, we paid for had not been distributed yet, and that they don't get distributed until a week before the game. The tickets would be hand delivered to us at our hotel. Well we have already reserved and paid for our flight and working on the hotel. He did not indicate that we would not get the tickets during our initial emails I assumed that he had the tickets and they would be sent after I paid for them.
Can anyone verify that this is the way things work as I've never bought tickets like this before. Did I make a big mistake buying from this guy and not from the official site. If I did make a mistake I need to start the process with PayPal to get my money back asap and buy the tickets from the official site before it sells out.
Any help or suggestions you guy's could give would be greatly appreciated. This will be our first trip to the U.K. and I just want to make sure everything works out fine.
The second thing is I need a new Prodive front lip for my 02 WRX, the last one was broken off after an off track excursion. I have not been able to find one here in the states. Where would be the best place to buy one while I'm over there.

Thanks for the help.

Don

As a Manchester City fan it pains me to say this but it IS normal practice for tickets to be sent out a few days in advance of the match day.

I do hope you get the tickets as it's never nice to see someone, even an American get ripped off.

How much did you pay by the way? What part of Florida are you from?

I'll also be hoping Chelsea turn the rags over on the day

They sell large bottom lips in the MU ClubShop, so not far for you to go.

Gonna cost and arm and a leg to ship a front lip back to the US of A though innit?
Recon it would be worth contacting the supplier and seeing how much they'd charge you for shipping as I'm guessing you won't want to carry it home with you?

Whewwww, I knew that I'd probably get a few flames when I posted up about United since there are 2 football team in Manchester
Anyway thanks for the help if anyone has any suggestions for GOOD pubs and some racing I'd appreciate that also.
I'm looking into trying to get it back on the plane with me. We'll see what happens with that.

Oh and by the way we Americans aren't that bad, we can't help it if our government is stupid and sucks.

jods: paid $365 US I live right outside of Orlando. I tried to deal with the US distributor but after not getting calls returned multiple times I gave up.

Thanks for the responses

I wouldn't be worrying about your government if I were you - you have heard of Gordon Brown?

Enjoy the game if you get there!

Very few Manchester United fans to be found in Manchester. Youll need some soft Southern shandy drinker to help you (from Hertfordshire or Surrey).

Re. the front lip. If you want a genuine one I think the Subaru dealer network or Prodrive themselves are the only ones who can help.

I have a mate who runs a garage just north of Manchester and luckily he owns a Scoob. If you want I could get him to make some enquiries directly with Subaru/Prodrive for you.

If he can get one via them then you can maybe wire him the money in advance as it may take time to get it delivered as I doubt they are a stock item and pick it up off him or even me while you are here. I am in Manchester by the way.

Is that the Lass o'Gowrie on Charles St

Spent many a good night in there after days of being bored witless (sorry, educated) in the John Dalton building

Not a place you could walk into, back then anyway, wearing orange

Excellent, thanks.
I'm looking forward to trying some real English ales.
The only one we get over here that I like is Hobgloblin, Boddingtons is not bad. But I'm sure we don't get much of the really good beer over here

yes i am,
lived here all my life

cant help with the bumpoer though, that may just be a case of striking lucky at the time, have you looked on ebay.

ive done a sort of iteneary for two different budgets.
i wont recommmend any bars or eateries as thats half the fun finding new places

town will be hammered and hotel prices will be at an absolute premium i would book now, and also keep your eye on the dates of the match because they do change for tv purposes. !! this is important!!
either way, try and get on the official tour, that day or the day before/after even if you dont like football its amazing, she will be thrilled with that.

also try and get the canal boat to old trafford, it runs from a couple of pubs in central manchester, and cuts out all the traffic etc.

staying out of town (cheaper)
i live in the south of manchester, if you stay perhsaps here.

Manchester Airport (Heald Green) Hotel | Information - cheap quality budget hotel rooms - Premier Inn

you are close by the train station and there are two an hour into manchester, its four or five stops i think . its a nice sort of a place and has a couple of pubs and restearaunts. its also 5 minutes from the airport.

i know you chappies dont have too much in the way of history so you may find that a day here which is about a mile away is fantastic, honestly you will be amazed

Welcome to Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Estate
and this is only a couple of miles away as well.
National Trust | Dunham Massey

the other option is if you stay in town. (more expensive)

this is a fantastic hotel

Photos and pictures of Great John Street - The Eclectic Boutique Hotel Collection, Manchester at LateRooms.

you can see into the set of coronation street from the terrace at the rear of the hotel.

or here this is in the same area.

Google Image Result for http://www.eventstyle.co.uk/project/Hilton_Manchester_Deansgate/1.jpg

if you opt for somewhere like this, you are quite handy for the boat to old trafford, your are also near the following impressive attractions.

Castlefield - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
and a couple of great museums
Manchester Museum and the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester
the steam trains and the aircraft in here are superb, also John Rylands Library - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
if im not mistaken it has a piece from the oldest bible in the world in it i think

we also have a gay area, china town, indian food area,

i got the impression that you are coming here for this specifically is that correct?
if i were you i would go for the cheaper option and maybe tag a couple of days on in amsterdam or paris or somewhere, there are loads of cheap no frills airlines from manchester
or even pick another date and see them play in europe in the champions league.

anyhow, machesterr is great, there are parts to stay clear from but your insticts will tell you that.
