How do you apply for a V5?
I bought my car over a month ago and havent received the new documents in my name yet so I can only assume the last owner never bothered to post them.
So how do you apply for a V5 that isnt in your name to come back in your name? Checks, fee etc?

hi that happened when my brother bought a car,6 weeks later still no log book.He had to go post office and pick up a form to apply for one, there is no fee if you have bought the car and recieved no log book but you do have to send the original green slip(small one) from the log book(should have got that when purchased the car) to prove ownership.hope that helps

You can download a V62 at the link below, just enclose the green slip as stated above and there is no fee.

Had to re-apply for one a while back when I lost mine (then found it a couple of days after re-applying ), but it's pretty easy - I just downloaded the v62 like above.

Make sure you send the V62 recordered post
I sent 3 V62s off for my last car, chasing them up over the phone DVLA said they hadn't received any of them so i had to send another with a cheque for £25, this i sent recordered and of course they got that 1
