I hate the show and hate the pathetic sympathy attempts of I'm doing this for my dead mother/brother/wife/dog.

Its a fooking crap programme and thats why when the missus was watching it tonight, I went upstairs and watched the FastShow instead.

The whole programme is too contrived. The deaths and diasters and "I came to this country to find a better life for my kids" and all I can do is sing...... etc

Are these people given the spin when they get through the preliminary's?

I'm not suggesting for one minute their situations are false but the way these things are described and presented feels very stage managed.

I mean getting the kid whose father has died, to run on stage to his uncle and then wave at the crowd left me squirming as a contrived stunt and not a genuine action..........it seems wrong to me..........you can almost hear the call "Cut! Thanks guys great emotional shots.......can someone re-do Cheryl's make up?"

Still aslong as Cowell can push out another album for Xmas and make a few more quid............

The stuff is real - and of course they pick the best bits to maximise the audience - and it works.

I am sure the kid was encouraged to run on stage - it does not make the emotional content any less real.

Maybe the issue is Simon and his team utilising these real stories to make good TV. Tell me show from Match of the Day to Newsnight that doesn't?!

I didn't say the stuff wasn't real....but the presentation of these facts on stage felt very artificial. Yes, you are right! every programme creates a presentation to the audience. I felt dead uncomfortable seeing a little kid whose Dad had died within the year encouraged to run on stage and wave at the audience to make "Good TV.............". IMO its contrived and bordering on being distasteful and sick.

This programme twists and manipulates the presentation in a way that feels very borderline considering it is meant to be "just a light entertainment programme" and not reporting real news or sport.

How come the format of 4 judges with a live audience for the auditions is ok for the Xfactor but they sacked Kelly Brook off the the tallent show one saying it didn't work? Or was it Ms Brook that didn't work

Surely a serious factual programme creating spin is even worse? Just IMHO of course

Probably but I'm not talking about spin, I'm talking about parading some poor little sod whose lost his Dad in front of 2000 people in the name of "Good TV..." for a light entertainment programme.....just seems wrong to me.......next thing they'll be rolling out a medium to speak to those lost to get their view on how well the audition went.......

I have told my family to give me a shout when Jamie Afro sings again in next episode. I'd watch him sing with pleasure. He stands out, rest are mediocre. I thought Jamie was attractive too, even the beehive adds a style to him IMO. I read on the internet that he has caught a lot of birds, and done a lot of sh@gging after his small gigs in pubs etc. Doesn't surprise me.
