Phone Upgrade Option: iPhone 3GS or sumink else?
Alrighty,
As per the title I have reached the end of my contract so have the option to:
1. Change my contract
2. £150 credit
3. Upgrade to another phone (any O2 3G phone/tarrif)
I am happy with the current contract but in two frames of mind about the iPhone 3GS.
I am currently using my 5th iPhone 3G 8GB model as I had a spate of problems with them (audio ****ing up, bricked phone etc etc) however version 3.0 of the software has proven worth the wait and it now feels like 'every other proper phone'.
But I am more of a power user so I want something I can geek out with but still get the power tools I need like Exchange connectivity, messaging etc.
Windows Mobile is a favourite because I am biased being a .NET/C# junkie but I want to get opinions on anything else out there that is worth a look.
Cheerios,
T

FZ/T,
Run a search, and you should find ample threads in favour of glamorous I-phone 3GS. I don't mean to say that you are repeating a broken record , I am just trying to demonstrate that I-phone absolutely rocks
It is like a flat brick, mind. But its a brick you would love! Its like having a mini plasma touch screen TV in your handbag

I love iPhones, I love apple products but until o2 sort themselves out I refuse to renew my contract with them (its up in a couple of months)
I have seen some top geek deals on 3, price is good phones look good, might be worth having a look at.

How long would the new contract be?
Dare I utter the letters HTC, being Win based, if you were to decide to break from the folds.
But if your iPhone is doing everything you want and need right now, stick with it.

I might just wait until o2 lose the contract and go with someone else. I have been with o2 since...well before they were o2. They wont let me have a 3gs until my contract is full term. Before now I have only had to do 12 months then get an upgrade. When its time for an upgrade they said I will have to pay for the handset on the tariff I am on, before now it has been free.
For the first 3 months on my iPhone 3g contract they would not supply me with a bill, I could not get it online for whatever reason (they messed up) and they claimed that they dont have access to iPhone bills. My bills were in excess of £80 a month.
Just very annoyed with o2.

Yeah the E71 is a good bit of kit, and remains in the comfort zone for Nokia users. The E72 now replacing it, complete with optical trackpad. BB's are the next step from there, in their functionality at least. But the Nokia is more than capable.
Tim that sounds like the sort of crap I went through with O2. Kept getting really high bills. Online bills not available, and call centre could not explain why so high. Everytime, they would take the money by direct debit, then I would spend the next month asking for it back.
Each time they would say there had been a mistake, and they would credit 50-60 quid, but never once would refund it.
Bought myself out of the contract in the end.

Finalzero, I guess the first real question is, are you going to stay with O2?
If you are then you can ponder your handset choices based on what they supply
Have a look at what HTC have to offer, then see if O2 supply them
All HTC phones
