Urgent- I've got no water!
Can anybody help.
This morning there was no cold water in the kitchen, no water going to the appliances there.
There was however water comimg out of the garden tap, which implies I have mains pressure?
Anyway, I put my ear to the kitchen floor and I can hear noise. So I assume a pipe has blown and is leaking.
I turn off the stop **** and am trying to arrange somebody to come over tommorrow.
Here is the confusing bit. I turn on the stop **** again, just so the storage tank can get refilled. Then I turn on the garden tap to collect some drinking water and now there is nothing come out of there either (with stop **** open)
What does that mean?

Yes, next door neighbour has water.
Would the outside tap be connected to upstairs in that way? I thought it comes straight from the mains, and it was coming out initially when the stop **** was open. Also if I open the stop **** I can hear the water come gushing through the pipes and water filling in the cisterns etc
So I have supply.

If it is a burst pipe then you might have a claim on your home insurance as it could be expensive. At least you can pick new tiles and as Nat said, maybe do an improvement or two while you are at it.

No disrespect but I'd rather pay the extra ££ for the premium renewal next year over paying someone out your own pocket to fix it.
Hope you get it sorted, as I know what a busted boiler and no heating in November feels like

Ahem, suggest you subscribe to British gas home plus. £38/month. They have saved us a fortune on leaky pipes, boiler problems, blown light switch etc. Get everything fixed and then cancel after 12 months. Naughty, but only like joining the rac after breaking down!!!.

Pipe burst under kitchen floor. Must have been leaking for ages, its where it was tapped for a cold water feed to my fridge freezer.
Had to rip up loads of my lovely limestone tiles, but hey ho.
Never really been one for these insurance schemes, not really keen onm just anyone working on my house.
The whole thing should cost me 2 days labour, ie £300. ( I already have spare tiles) My premium went down £70 this year because of no claims.
So it may be better for me to pay out of my own pocket and build up my no claims?

You should have spent more on your plumbing and less on your flashy watch .
Could be an air block - try turning on all your taps and then putting the stock **** back on - SLOWLY !!!!!!!
But it does sound like a more major issue
oh well - there goes that theory !

I took out cover with Npower but only for the boiler, they had a clause though that I couldn't claim within the first 28days of taking the policy out, presume British Gas have the same get out clause?

Thanks all fixed and water back on. Chappie will come back another time to refit the tiles.
Jasey, I don't have a flash watch! I just hang around on those threads to see how the other half live. LOL
