Carrying large amounts of cash through uk airports??
Has anyone carried large sums of cash through uk airports in hand luggage?
Reason I ask is I have seen a car I like in scotland, so I intend to fly from manchester to edinburgh, if I like the car I buy it and drive it back home again.
Do you need to pre warn the airport or anything like that? are they liable to hold you for questioning if you dont advise them and they see that you are carrying large amounts of cash?
Cheers

and if I get mugged on the plane then they cant go very far

You only have to declare more than 10,000 euro if passing in/out of the EU:
Cash controls - Taxation and Customs Union - European Commission
Wouldn't have thought there's a limit for a domestic flight, but as others have said, being able to prove it's source might be handy if you get stopped at security.

Guy who bought my Evo came with cash on the plane to Edinburgh. Went to a branch of my bank and deposited it there, gave him the keys, he phoned his insurer in the bank foyer and dropped me at the train station to go home. Worked great, price agreed in advance based on description.
Previous buyer of my M3 flew up to Edinburgh and we went to his bank who issued a draft. A similarly excellent transaction.

yes its been up for a while, originally just under 13k I think it was. There are a lot of 8's available with average mileage for between 10 and 11 so for the price of this one with below average and a few subtle mods, I think it was a no brainer. Hopefully this time next week it will be mine, all mine

I had £6k in my back burner, IIRC, when I flew from Edinburgh to Exeter to get my last scooby - I don't think it's a big issue.
By the way, I don't know much about Evo's but if you want someone local to cast an eye over it before you travel/book your flight then I'm happy to do so if you want to get something arranged
