Default Transformers 1 question

Ok I'm watching Transformers 1 (I'm a bit behind the times) and only about a 1/4 way in (young man has met the police car transformer for the 1st time)

One thing that is getting on my nerves already is that the continuity is ALL OVER THE PLACE.

The worst thing is the lighting, the scenes are shot during the day, appears to be summer wherever they are (SoCal?) so I assume long days.

Whenever the transformers turn up its instantaneously deep deep night.

Is this a plot device to signify the transformers are evil or is it just poor planning?

Its terrible isn't it. It doesn't get any better for the 2nd.

The timing is terrible too. In that scene you mention, Barricade is right behind Sam he clotheslines Micheala off her scooter and then explains whats going on. Where did the robot go?

Bay is an awful director. There seem to be many unhappy TF fans on the forums after seeing TF2.

God. Get over it. It's entertainment, not real life.

I heard CGI is easier to blend into the filmed shots when it's dark.

I had thought that, but the big final fight scene at the end is in daylight

I remember watching the special features of team america a while back. One of the more memorable quotes from the directors was:
michael bay makes comedy, he just doesn't realise it
Which falls firmly into the 'its funny cos its true' category
Astraboy.
