Default ebay fees ??

Been a while since I last listed anything on ebay but just a few weeks ago I listed an item with a start price and also a buy it now price, the item was bought with the buy it now option at a cost off £140. the listing fees for this item was advised as being £1.73 and yet I have just been given a bill from ebay for a sum off £18.00, now this £18 bill also includes another listing fee off £1.73 for another item I have just listed but as yet still not sold, so in total we have £3.46 in listing fees which leaves a fee off £14.54 in charges for selling the item which was priced at £140 - surely not ??!!

if this is the case then it has cost me £16.27 in ebay fees and another £5.50 in paypal charges for the privlege off receiving a payment which was funded via paypal, a grand total off £21.77 for one item !!!!!

can anyone have a quick look at the above figures for me and advise if everything sounds about right ??

I had it a couple of weeks ago mate, cut a long story short, i sold a fmic for £205, time all fees were paid, i got £168!! Final value fees are 10% of sale price. I'll never sell anything on there again.

Yep about right. Ebay charge you a little to advertise and then sting you if you stipulate things like "Buy it Now" or "Reserve" prices.

My uncle sold a slush maching on my account a couple weeks ago. Started at £100 I think and made £360 something. Just got the invoice through and he owes me £37.88 for that Was paid in cash so didn't pay PPal charges on that either.

Feckin rip off merchants

Okay thanks guys appreciatte the info, I think the buy it now / reserve options etc were all in with the initial £1.73 listing fee so 10% off the £140 is about right but as I say combine this with the paypal charges and I honestly wonder why so many people use it for selling ?? great for buying but will certainly think twice before listing anything in future !!

Im about to stop using them too. Just got hit the same way.

About 25 quid for 190 worth of stuff. Thats just takin the **** now.

Seriously not gonna bother as a seller anymore, especially seeing as more and more people who buy from you spend the next 6 weeks whining about things
