Bidder 1 on ebay
heres a strange thing. i spend alot of time on ebay looking at various stuff as you do. for ages now ive noticed that items ranging from car parts to household furniture seem to be started by a user Bidder 1. its getting too common for that user to be looking at and bidding on the same items i look at. is Bidder 1, some sort of default thing that the seller can use to start bidding? i dont / havnet ever sold anything on ebay so as such i havnt got a selling account so i dont know.
does anyone have any info on this please.

I thought the same thing a while back but then realised what it is. When you place a bid you can choose to hide your username so people dont know who is placing the bid, this is displayed as bidder1 if that person places the first bid, or bidder3 if they place the third bid and so on ..........

Thats not what happens, when you bid you cannot choose to hide your ID. eBay now hides all bidder ID info, you can no longer even see the winning bidders ID. If you never sell anything on eBay no one will ever see your ID name, the only people who will see it would be the seller of any item you bid on.
Private listings display no bidder number.
Its all top secret on there these days!

They've changed it a while ago so only the seller can see ID's bidding.
They are extending it to winning bidders too soon, so you will NEVER be able to see what people are bidding on or who has bid on/won an item.
Makes it a LOT easier for sellers to use shill bidding to up their items and prevents people with similar items contacting bidders to offer them, yet another Ebay way of screwing the users and of course screwing as much money out of them
