Another Ebay scammer
It really does my head in, I'm currently winning a bugeye interior for 99p on ebay. Clearly the seller is worried that he's not going to make any money on it and has sent me a message stating that there is an £80 reserve - WTF, it's a no reserve listing.
I could be a complete tw@t as he's screwed up the listing completely and listed it with free 1st class P&P, although he has written in the listing pick up only.
What is wrong with these people, you take a chance at not paying fees to set a reserve and then assume that people are going to pay whatever price you want - it's an auction not a classified add FFS.

Stick to your guns and make him settle up for what you get it at - if only to teach him a lesson.
I sold a load of stuff very recently (some expensive bits) but listed them all at 99p to save fees. Some went for well over my estimate, others didn't. The chance you take. He can't have it both ways.

I've sent him a message back telling where he can stick his reserve price and I might have happened to drop something into ebay, mentioning that he is trying to avoid paying his fees - I expect the item will soon disappear, but if it doesn't and I do win it for 99p I'll pop down to Portsmouth with a nice shiny pound coin and let him keep the change
