Default Nice clamping scam going on....

Motorists lured to non-existent flat and fined £300 in clamping scam | Mail Online

Currently only in London, but you can be sure that it will be rolled out to a place near you anytime soon.

For those who are too lazy to read, your business gets a phone call from a resident who wants you to do some work for them. You go out to that person to do whatever (deliver, collect etc). The resident gives you permission over the phone to park in the residents parking bay.

Only when you arrive and leave your car to find your customer, they don't exist. Nor does their flat, and when you get back you have to pay £300 to get your car back as its clamped....

Yes there is always that plan. If you cannot beat them, join them.

I just hope one day the gov puts to an end the ridiculous clamping legislation that exists in this country. Scotland has a much better way of working when it comes to this area of law.

Thank god it doesn't happen up here anymore.

Years ago when they were still clamping, my old boss was at the Edinburgh Royal seeing his wife who was very ill at the time. He is a joiner, his life is his work, and his wife being ill just topped his stress off. He returned to the car park where he'd parked his van to find it clamped, so he just took a hack saw out the back and cut it off. Has never heard anything about it, and it's still lying in his back garden. Lol

Does it really only take a hacksaw to get a clamp off?

Technically yes, but for women a nipple flash may suffice.

Depends on the clamp, CCTV, and how hard the clampers are

Normally it needs an angle grinder I think.

He's the kind of guy that would be there sawing it all night to get it off. But in that case, he said it didn't take long at all.
