Cool Brace yourself for the heatwave!!

BBC NEWS | Health | 'Prepare for a heatwave' UK told

Prediction based on... probably nothing scientific, other than "well the last 2 were crap, so this year it's bound to be a good'un!"

I'm sure every year there are articles like "hottest summer due" or "harshest winter" - but if we do get a heatwave I won't be complaining

Time to get the aircon re-gassed!!

I won't complain if it is, since I can't go abroad this year anyway, for the first time in 20 years.

I hope it's VERY hot in France too, then all my grass will wither up

I am an Arab in the body of a pale white boy from Surrey I swear. The desert would be perfect for me (with an ocean next to it)

Headline: "'Prepare for a heatwave' UK told"
Contents: "The Met Office says it is too early to tell whether it will be a very hot summer this year"
See Also (for last winter): "Another cold snap is heading for the UK, as forecasters warn of the chilliest winter for 13 years."

Total utter bollocks fairytale rubbish

Do we (the taxpayer) still pay for these charlatans who are the Met Office??

Every year for as long as I can remember (and I'm an old man) the "long range forcast" has been for a hot summer and a cold winter. Britain seldom gets either.

Hang on.....

Wasn't whitewashing your house also the government's advice during the cold war to protect you against the thermal blasts of a Nuclear attack?

I beginning to think they just say this whatever.

Those people have the best jobs in the world. They never have to be right as they can also blame on a 'new weather front'.

I don't care if we get a hot summer or not, but I don't like being fed bull****. Then again, why do I keep coming back here?

Let's not beat about the bush. This summer's been f*cking abysmal. Just like the last 3. My eldest son will be 4 in September: he's never experienced an actual "summer" here yet. Such an event seems about as believable to him as Santa Claus!

We've managed one barbecue so far and that was the day of the Monaco GP, way back on 24 May! We even missed out on the South-East's brief heatwave.

It's been p!ssing it down all afternoon whilst I've been sat here.

Back to the Med again for our hols next year then.

Just come back from the harsh winter in Australia 23 degrees and sunny in Perth. 18 degrees and sunny in Melbourne. Only 2 days rain out of 20, sunny and blue skies the rest of the time.

Then you get back to this hellhole and have to remember it's summer

Never mind, emigrating as soon as I sort a few things out here.

As for the Met Office they should all be sacked and the money saved and spent on better things. The French forecast our weather far more accurately than the Met Office ever do. They are pathetic!!

The BBC weatherman was quoting on behalf of the Met Office saying "We didn't predict a scorcher, just that it wouldn't be as bad as the last two years." I don't think so. Liars.

Maybe if the Met Office has a few less spokespeople and PR people and climate change experts, and a few more, er, people who know something about the weather - we could look forward to some half decent forecasts.

I think that it is time we started building the "B Ark"

Ive just returned from a week in Newquay....well 6 days as we came home a day early.

We had 3 red hot days, and 3 days of solid rain (not just showers but proper heavy none stop rain)....

The sunny days (two of) were spent on Fistral beach (body boarding, swimming, lazing in the sun), and one around the pool at the Hendra site.

The raining days were spent at the indoor Oasis pool, cinema, arcades and tenpin bowling.

340 miles there.......6 hours, 340miles home 7 hours......and 120 miles pottering around.

Although we all had a good time and we did the things we wanted to do, It was a downer with the rain, and I will never do a main shutdown holiday in this country again.

I too listened to the met office with their heatwave predictions....they fcuked up, and often do, if we all fcuked up in our jobs as often as they do, we would be unemployed.

Later Yoza.
