Hit by flying debris M1
There we were bimbling down the M1 when this bright yellow scooby went hurtling past at near on warp speed
just as it went through the sound barrier part of the front of the scooby shot off and bounced down the carriageway, straight into the front of my BRAND NEW!!! car...
valiantly i wrestled the controls of my now stricken pride and joy and pulled over onto the hard shoulder... only to find my brand new superduper intercooler has a large portion of scooby screen trim embedded in it
Anyone on here lost a bit of screen trim?

Little chuckle here. Glad it's not real, at least the intercooler damage.
We once had a lorry wheelnut complete with the wheel stud still inside it, come THROUGH a laminated screen, while towing a caravan on the A1. I was overtaking the lorry at the time as it was only doing 40mph.
The wheelnut showered me with glass, but I was wearing sunglasses so no probs, then it hit my left shoulder numbing it, and bounced into the back of the car, hitting my eldest just under his eye and blackening it.
Otherwise, we got away with it Could just as easily have been a multiple.
I still have the wheelnut somewhere, it weighs over 100g

I had a cobblestone bounce from a dumper truck, up my bonnet, and place a fist sized crack in the window of my Saab 900
it was like a bomb going off
luckily i held it together and managed to take the number of the offending truck..
the driver of the truck wondered why there was a guy behind him for 7 miles
flashing his lights and looking generally pi**ed..
they payed out mind, one new screen the next day
so do you want your bent trim back squaresy or are you going to pay for the intercooler

whats a bent trim between friends?
I am missing some trim clips too. I am definitely not going to ask for them when i pick up the new shiny trim. I will write it on a piece of paper and hand it over at the parts desk. I just know i wont be able to say trim clips without laughing

On the not so lighter note of motoring mishaps; My R32 bottomed out on a badger.
There it was, a freshly stricken, dead (or at least mortally wounded and very bloody), and yet to be flattened, lying slap bang in the middle of the left carriage-way. I was going too fast to stop (60mph road), and traffic was comming the other way, so I lined the centre of the car up with it and hoped for the best.
Front bumper cleared it, but I felt and heard a distinctive < Thunk > and < Thud > from underneath. I darn't put the car on the ramp to see whats underneath it...I'm probably dragging along half a badger carcass

I was overtaking a lorry on the A19 near to Thirsk when one of the lorries offside tyres blew out. . . . A huge section of tread came flying towards me and BANG it hit my windscreen. I put my arm up over my face as it happened expecting it to come through or at l east shatter the screen butit didn't. I nearly shat myself though and pulled over to inspect the damage to my motor. All it had done was left a rubber skid mark all the way up my bonnet and on my windscreen. No lasting damage so I consider myself very lucky.

Reminds me of a "with apologies" card I once saw.
The message inside read something along the lines of:
Whilst backing out of the drive the other day, I felt the car bog.
I carried on regardless assuming I'd run over an old, damp log.
Unfortunately when I looked under the car today, I noticed....
Your dog!
Sorry!
