I'm sure we've put company expenses down that are stupid little things but I can’t ever see myself put OTT claims in.

The girls in accounts used to tell me all sorts of stories about Sales Reps claims.

If I was a MP which would mean I was a corrupt lying scum bag I’m sure I would have claimed all sorts of expenses.

I think most people would bend the truth a little for personnal gain.

Some of the expenses claims are not that bad its the ones who have properly taken the pee that annoy me, and they think it was ok to doso.

Yep probably, I'm so disorganised with my finances I'd be bound to do something that looked suspicious..
To be honest I'm getting more fedup with our media than our MPs at the mo, the reporting is so un-balanced and inflammatory.
Shore some of the MPs have taken the pee and I'm not happy about it, but most MPs are not lying swindlers at all, many go into politics to make difference rather than whinge like some on this forum(other threads not this one) I can understand the anger, I'm angry myself! but to hurl abuse at all mps and to say they are all in it for personal gain is a lode of tosh, be fecked if Id want to do there job even for the wage they are on, which isn't a lot when u consider what they have to do.( flame suite on)...as I say though there are some that are taking the pee, maybe we need some process to kick them out and vote for a replacement? rather than trial by a gossip shop media.

I agree with JPF, personally I'm more outraged about that news reader that I've never heard of being paid £92k out of our tv license.

Well as an MP I would have known that 4 years ago a Freedom of Information request was submitted for MPs expenses and therefore would not have claimed for anything that looked even vaguely dodgy. Unfortunately the retarded f*ckwits who took the **** lacked such foresight, or perhaps assumed the British public would be ok with them using taxpayers money to fund lavish lifestyles.

Whilst it annoys me - the individuals concerned don't annoy me any more than someone with 6 kids still claiming child benefit does.

The vast majority of the claims that have been reported are in the rules; whilst they may be distasteful/immoral/a bit cheeky, there is nothing actually wrong with them.

The fact that they are allowed to claim for these things is what is at fault - I'm amazed at some of the claims that have been paid, but I'm a bit dubious of anyone who claims that they wouldn't wrangle their employer out of every little bit of expenses that they could get away with! I know I would!

It is of course worth remembering who made up those rules and voted them in! And don't forget the man in the big chair who supported them all the way and tried to get them kept secret!

Darts aint sport lol like the name, whose the news reader that's on 92k? that's a pee take if they have a go at mps when they get paid that much. Prasius you best not have any plans to become an MP mate "I know I would", u just know that post will be dug up by the media and used against you and you'll be labelled as a swindler, or something worse.

During my time at a previous company we did just that! Well actually it was for my customers/agent in Korea where it was expected! One night my boss spent over £4k on his credit card - maxed it out, good lad.

Of course I never participated *cough cough*

this is just wrong -- the rules a very very clear all expenses must be "wholly, exclusively and necessarily" for their work an an MP

hanging baskets, dog food etc etc just do not meet this criteria

its not the rules per se its mainly the inerpretation application and enforcement

We were lucky in the fact that our MD knew the score

We used to buy the bars chip's or $'s (a bit like a casino) on our credit card and naturally you'd get a receipt. The 'money' could then be used to buy drinks, food, dances etc etc - use your imagination. It would just be claimed as entertaining customers - a few customer names and bob's your uncle!
