Yup, that sums it up. The fear, panic, relief and joy is quite a heady mix. Congrats and I hope all is well.

She was in Labour for 13 hours and 24 minutes before James came out.

Then they had to stitch her which was horror .. she screamed more that when she was in labour.. and the amount of blood .. I felt so useless.

I had to leave them there last night and am in for 10 today, hopefully they will be ready to come home today.. I didnt eat at all yesterday and Chicken noodle soup and tea for my breakfast has made me a bit sick ...

Congratulations 'Daddy'...... it is very surreal isn't it. I am glad that James has arrives safe and sound, and a good weight too. Mine were 7lb 6 and 7lb 13.
And like FlightMan said, the next one will be much easier, but don't tell her that anytime soon! I am sure that's the last thing on her mind.

As for the stitches, been there done that (unfortunately) just try and do as much as you can so she doesn't have to keep getting up and down all the time.
She will probably feel pretty rough 'down there' so insist she takes it easy. I am certain she will feel much better in a couple of week.

Only 13 hours I had the ill-advised/stupid comment to my wife of, "I thought this was meant to hurt"....... (in my defence was looking at the contraction charts - the one in particular didn't look very big!!)
Oh, and she was in labour for 70 hours...on/off/on/off..... I'd have gone mad if I hadn't had my laptop with me!!!

Anyways - MANY congratulations. TOTALLY know where you're coming from. It IS a life-changing event. For the BETTER!!!!

Well Done "Dad"

Dan

I held off posting when I read the opener, thinking something was wrong. Glad everything's OK, you have a lot of joy to come. My little'uns 18 months now and I wouldn't be without him for anything now.
