Default Where to go in Turkey

Were looking to go to Turkey for a week soon, but having never been there before not sure which parts are good.

Looking for somewhere with plenty of restaurants and not "chavyish". Must be good beaches too.

Has anyone been who could offer some advice?

Thanks in advance

Olu Deniz, has probably the best beach in Turkey.Got a few bars, and not chavvy.Up the hill is Hisonaru(sp).Loads of nightlife and plenty places to Eat.

I like Turkey holidayed there 7 times

Marmaris is like the Blackpool of Turkey, but just along the road,is the smaller and nicer Icemelar(sp)

Or you could try the resort of Chalis Beach not far from Fethiye, good amount of bars, and it a fairly new resort, and it has the most amazing sunset i have seen,it's famous for it.

Antalya...Lara Beach, 15 mins from Airport, nice beach, nice hotels.

Delphin Palace we found to be excellent, we went twice...

It has its own waterslides too.

Very HOT though..........

Good for cheeky Monkeys......

You didnt get a sunbed you got a summerhouse and sunbeds...brilliant

Youtube the hotel, its is excellent, and the food is second to none.

Later Yoza

PS. Thats me in the red on the right, in the waterslide shot, looking Hot.

Get ready for the heat.....it reached 55 where we where last year!!!!

Friends of ours buit a house in Didim so we get to go once a year......good points are the food(if you like lamb)the weather, and the boat trips are quality.

However i did get attacked on the second night we stayed by a gang of youths trying to cause distraction to pickpocket.......And some people we met over there had a gun pulled out on them in a shop.....by the owner!!!!!

Also you will get used to ignoring the constant bararge of young turkish men trying to herd you into there shop......or sell you english ciggarette....all of which are fakes.Even the 3 storey shopping centre we went to was completely dedicated to fake gear....but you do get some cracking bargains....

As Speye said, Ischmeler is lovely.

When I was 18 I paid for me, my mother and younger borther to go there for 2 weeks (she was going through a nasty divorce so I treat her).

Brilliant clean place, plenty of shops and sights etc. Very hilly backdrop and some gorgeous scenery. A decent walk to the beach from where we were but went right through the markets and restaurants to get there so lots to keep you occupied.

A short bus trip away is Marmaris, as said the nightlife is here. Strange as hell as you go down a street maybe 15 feet wide and door after door on either side is a pub/bar/club/kebab shop/tattooist, open at like 5am

Brilliant when your drunk

Bring an 'Original Liverpool football top' give it to the groundsman and get your summer house reserved with fresh towels and iced lemon wipes for 14 mornings,..

Some guy tried it with a ManU shirt and was placed by the toilet block.

Everything they have over there is blag/copy/counterfeit so to get an original is a big deal, the groundsmen/pool attendants work for 60 euros a week, thats a 7 day week aswel, the Turks are the nicest people I have ever met.

The Russians who were the main population in our Hotel were the most arrogant people I have met, nothing was good enough for them and they liked to make a scene.

The men were all huge/fat/hairy/gorrilla types and their partners were all beautiful, petite, **** star types, it was strange to see.

It depends on where you are located, we were away from the center and it was queiet. its nice down by the marina, loads of nice resturants. like said above the bars are all up a narrow street. Theres loads of little minibuses that take your round the town for about 60p and just stop the driver where you want to get off. The amount of knock of gear is unbelivable, and take sterling youll get a better price than liera(sp). As said above the people are really nice and its very clean. Oh and my biggest tip is on your way back take food and drink with you and its is rediculasly expensive in the departure lounge, £5 for a can of coke, i kid you not! £8 for a mcdonalds hamburger!

I can second that....the airport food and drink prices are stupid, even the people selling it look embarresed.

Our Hotel knew this and gave us each a carryout packet lunch, drinks, sandwiches, fruit, pastries etc.

Dont forget your "ten pound note" at the airport on the way in, dont give change, or two fivers, or a twenty....just a nice new ten pound note each.

I remember that quite vividly. They like £10 notes in immaculate condition, just when they stamp you passport.

Yep, per person though I don't know about kids. It's like an entry visa, you get a nice stamp in your passport
