Question Specs Online?

Just had an eye test today ..... quoted £500 for a pair of glasses - NO, not special bottle bottoms!! Just a standard 'run of the mill' prescription.

£500 Daylight robbery! How can the Pound Shop sell reading glasses for £1 and these thieves think they can get away with these prices!?

So, it's a big from me to the High Street Opticians!!

Has anyone bought online?

Good experience? Bad?

Any links for recommended sites?

Thanks!

No, it's the fact that I cannot see anything beyond my arms length!

Well, that buggers up this site then. Sight Station™ - Eyeglass Frames, Designer Glasses Frames, Rimless Frames - Optical Frames

They are superb. I need 1.25 for reading. Can see for miles but not close up
Anyway, they are fantastic and delivery is within 2 days.

Are you going for some kind of fancy frames at enormous expense? They seems to be where the expense gets hiked up.

Luckily I only need reading glasses so far, and by going for reasonably priced but respectable looking frames, the cost for two pairs was £80 and the frames are resistant to breakage unlike the highly expensive ones that Mrs Leslie went for.

I've always been reluctant without being able to try the frames on, the dudey frames you choose might in reality make you look like Elton.
There's a online speccy retailer that's based in Thatcham, I don't know whether you can pop in try but it might be the best of both worlds ?
