Default Hypnosis

Anyone tried it, in the sense of putting other people under with you being the hypnotist? What sort of effects were you able to elicit?

Have just been watching a stage hypnosis seminar and theres not that much to it, it seems to be fairly basic stuff. Obviously you have to watch exactly what suggestions you do, plenty of oppotunity to say the wrong thing.

Any here got any experience?

My brother did it for smoking and all it did was make him feel really odd and he still smokes.
Very dangerous to try doing on people if you're not trained, apparently.

I'll never try it, if I ever do it will be to prove that it doesn't work on me, I'm not up for someone else controlling me

Look in to the eyes, not around the eyes, in to the eyes. Three, two, one, you're under...

A lot of people here expressing fear, mainly I reckon through lack of understanding. If you were to think of it as pleasant day dreaming where someone can lead your thoughts rather than being "under control" does that make it more acceptable?

Nope, that's almost exactly how my bro described it actually. I'll do my own day dreaming without assistance, thank you.
No 'fear' about it, I just don't want anyone messing about with the way I'm currently programmed

It can be seen as a form of control though

Yes... (but not as the hypnotherapist) so a big no to your question

Visited a pscychotherapist/hypnotherapist for years now and certainly saved my mental health when all other (and I mean all other) types of drugs and therapy had failed.

Check my testimonial on the therapists' website to save me having to type it all out again

It's the last one entitled 'Peace at Last'

Testimonials

Would recommend it to anyone but worth reminding people that a hypnotherapist cannot force your will and just make sure that your hypnotherapist comes with a strong recommendation and is NRHP accredited

Cheers for that - glad it worked for you.

The most common reaction when talking about it is the "I can't be hypnotized" (wrong!) and the "I'm not touching that weird stuff" responses. But the way I see it, its just a tool like a car. You can use it to get safely and conveniently from A to B, or you can crash it and kill people. The car itself is not the problem.

Gonna continue exploring this one I think! It clearly works as SiPie can confirm...

Hehe. But seriously, dont you day-dream? Have you never been driving along, thinking about something then arrived at your destination without remembering actually manipulating the controls of the car, and time seems to have passed quickly? Well you just experienced hypnosis. People do it to themselves everyday. Is that something to be scared of?

How can you state as a fact that everyone can be hypnotised, when everyone site that talks about hypnotism says "most" people can be hypnotised ?

I've had hypnosis to aid me in stopping smoking. I think that you need to have the conviction to want to stop and a degree of willpower, and it will work. It worked for me and has for most people I know that have had it done.

Not sure about the stage thing. I suspect most people that would go to watch such shows believe in it too, unless they have been dragged along against their will by the other half! Still, can be quite amusing to watch.

It wouldn't work on me because I don't want it to. Simple as. If I haven't left my mind open enough to let suggestions take hold, I don't see how it would be so effective.
It's just not for me, that's all
Control freak I guess
