Default Well porky got three years!!!.

Mmmm, I wonder what would happen to one of us if we plowed into a girl at 94mph in a thirty zone??. One rule for one and one for another.

B**tard will be out in a year.

That totally depends on if you were a TWOC'er driving without a licence, insuance or tax.

In that case a suspended sentence and another driving ban would suffice.

Exactly.

He got more than the 'normal' person would get because of his job.

IMO, of course.

If you spend 2 minutes digging you will find countless people who have walked away from court after an offence like this.
So in answer to your question, chances are one of us would get less, and its one rule for them in as much as they will always get average or over sentence.

No doubt he was in the wrong, No doubt he deserved his sentence but make no mistake in the scheme of things ( I mean legally not morally) he got a tough sentence.

There's an appeal to be had there. Case law and a good barrister would have that sentence stamped on.

I think its wrong.. he did make a mistake, he has given up his job and from what I have seen is suffering from what he did.

I think he made a mistake, the car was powerful enough for him to acc to that speed and like the Scooby you can do it without noticing.

I would have banned him from driving maybe...

You would think with all his training, he would know better and that his actions were an abuse of a priveliged position.
And perhaps that is how the judge felt.

No he didn't and he deserved everything he got plus more.

My mates brother killed a 15 year old girl. She was drunk, walked out from in front of a bus and he wouldn't have had time to stop even he had only been doing 30. He coughed straight away and admitted to doing 40 in the 30 limit and the traffic investigation confirmed this. He pleaded guilty in court to causing death by dangerous driving, fully expecting a custodial, which is what he got - 6 years.

Where's the comparison

Harsh!!
I don't think three years for killing someone is enough either, whatever job they do.
I doubt the parents will feel much better in 3 years! The system is fooked!

Sorry but my heart goes out to the girl parents..but nothing for him..94 in a 30, no blues and two's chasing a car that was totally legal....As a Paramedic when doing the advanced driving it was drummed into us time and time again that NO EMERGENCY JUSTIFIES AN ACCIDENT at that speed in a built up area, your just a passenger, cos there is now way you could react if anything comes up, ive done 50 in a 30 on empty streets and although everything was ok it still felt unsafe and that's with all visual and audiable warnings on.............

Bear in mind this was supposed to be a proffesional driver, his actions were nothing short of sucidal, think about it, how often has he done this?

he did kill someone -- a little girl (93mph in a 30 limit -- I think you notice that, even in a scooby)

The guy acted liked a complete **** showing a disregard for human life and Hodgy thinks he should of simply been banned from driving?? You serious?

I have seen some ridiculous posts in SN over the years but suggesting he should of only been banned is a soddin joke.

I do not care if you are driving a wheel chair or a formula 1 car you know 90 in a 30 zone is disgraceful

People can get banned from driving for doin those speeds in a 60 zone, let alone that speed in a 30 plus killing someone.

He got off lightly, fair enough he didnt intentionaly kill the girl but he was in the wrong.

As per previous thread, the event that set off this chain of events was a flag up on ANPR.
A false one at that.
Perhaps highlights the negatives associated with automated policing.

If it was your daughter (if you have one) he hit i bet your view on this would be totally different.
If you think 90 through town just deserves a ban then thank god you are not a judge, you would be a tockers dream.

if u cant do the time dont commit the crime!

Im sorry but anyone of us who had done this should expect a custodial sentence copper or not!

Its even more important to show due dilligenge when you have recieved specialist training to drive at these high speeds.
Quite frankly he showed poor judgment by not putting on the blues and twos, not assessing the situation properly before giving chase and lack of care and attention during the chase.

As a result of the undue care and attention somone lost their life and no sentance or financial compenstation can bring the person back!

So is 3 years worth a life? I will leave that for you to decide!

When your in the spotlight e.g police officer ambulance person or fireman you should be even more cautious and aware of what could happen and the results for their actions
Police officers drum it into us about the effects of speeding all to often when issueing tickets, giving penalties and sending on drivers awareness courses.

nonbody is above the law and hes lucky he hasnt been made an example of!

Please post a link to the story, cos there's no way in hell anyone would be convicted of Death by Dangerous for doing 40 in a 30......Lack of information here me thinks

There is no way that his actions can be justified. To reach that speed in a 30 zone is not just a mistake, it is grossly irresponsible and a young girl has died because of that. Chasing a car purely out of suspicion in such a way and which he could have caught up with at a safe speed was a murderously dangerous act and he managed to prove that pretty positively.

I think he was lucky to get off as lightly as he did.

also

if intent on stopping a suspect they could have called for back up instead of endangouring others

Like BT say its good to talk which reminds me why are coppers exempt from the dont use u mobile from driving scheme surely operating a car and radio at same time equates to the same thing!
