im just about to buy a caravan, and my dad seems to think I may not have a licence to drive this combination.

I have my hgv class2 and common sense would suggest that as I can drive a vehicle upto 32 tonnes I would be ok, but im not sure and I dont just want to presume.

on my licence I have the following categorys, can anyone tell me if I can drive a car and a caravan please?

(no jokes)

on the rear of my licence it says I have:

B, B1, C, C1, F, K, L, N, P.

any help will be much appreciated

I thought you could pull a caravan on a normal full uk license.
One of my mates has a caravan and i can't remember him doing any specific test.

i think it comes down to when you past your full driving test

pre 97 -- the towing right was automatically given

post 97 --- not given

Just had a quick read of the above, I passed my test prior to 1997. Would this mean I need to take the towing test when my licence expires in 2011, 10 years after getting a photocard version, or when I have to apply for a new driving licence when I'm 70?

Probably when you may longer hold one for any reason.

'expiring licence' is only so that you keep the photo up to date, if you pass your test prior to 97 you can also drive a 7.5 tonne truck which people that passed after 97 can't as i beleive its a HGV class now.

The class required on the rear of your pink license is 'BE' B=car E=trailer. As said above pre 97 auto entitlment, post 97 you require a test. Hth
