Chicks for Easter
Here are our new additions to the family, Cocoa and Doris. We have had them a week now and no word of a lie, i had more sleep when my daughter was a baby. They have made soo much noise. But now i have got an infrared lamp they are happy chicks. One was a few hours old and one was a day old when we got them.
My daughter is loving it as we have them out a few times a day. They always seem to end up in her hair, strangely they love it and fall asleep.
Sadly Lilly, one of my dogs is having a phantom pregnancy and thinks the chicks are hers. At first she was worrying and crying for them, now she just wants to lay with them. She will round them up if they wander off
Paris on the other hand is Taking full advantage of the situation and moved straight in to the chicks bed
I didn't realise how frustrating keeping chicks would be. They are masters at long jump and high diving. They can squeeze out of any situation and if you handle them too much they cry constantly. I have to keep them indoors for about a month with heat but hopefully in 5 months time we will have eggs
One day old...
one week old. You can see the wing feathers now
And no, we dont know what sex they are
I also have millions of tadpoles in my frog pond
Happy Easter

The chicks will always be friendly i think. When they are noisy if you whisper in their ears they go quiet
What dog was you on about, the red one? They are both cute and seem to poo less than the chickens.
One of the Chicks pecked Paris on the nose, no, whenever one comes towards her she runs backwards
