KRP-500A plasma question again
I have just been offered one @ £2k, now i was going to wait until the new Panny's are out but reading tech blurb the Panny 50 ich V10 isn't as good except for this dynamic contrast and the 600khz thing. You think i should buy it ?. Comes with an almost full 5 year Pioneer warranty but no speakers or wall mount.Guy is upgrading to KRP-600A.

personally I would get a new one for a few hundred more. The picture on the 9 series is improved over the 8 series and to be honest nothing touches the pioneers, its a shame they are pulling out of the tv market. I am getting one myself in a month or so but I am undecided whether to go for the 500A, the 500M of the 5090. Also the panny I think is over 3k isnt it?
Best bet is go over to avfourms and read up about it there, you will need a good few hours though!!

to add, most people who have tvs like this run a home cinema setup as well, and if you want a wall bracket get one from ebay, I forget the shop but they are vesa brackets, tuv approved (basically very good quality) and support upto 60" and 80kg (think the pioneers are around about 30kg)

There is nothing that will touch a Pioneer PDP for picture performance. The KRP models are the ones to go for. I've got a PDP-LX508D which was 08's best model and it is stunning. It was a lot to justify spending on TV but the expense was well worth it, especially having it hooked up to Sky HD and a Pioneer Blu-Ray player.

Thanks guys, i am a member of avforums Torquemada and had a read of the review, thanks anyway. My dad keeps telling me there is only minute differences between these recent plasma tv's in terms of picture quality and says the Pioneer is a waste of money.Although he is a Panasonic fanboy.Somebody mentioned that they couldn't see the difference between the 5090 & 500M.How much difference here are we talking really ?.Anyone else seen these side by side ?.

Jaytc the Panasonic TX-P50V10 is priced roughly around £1,700 with pedestal stand & apparently will be out at the end of the next month. If you are talking about the Z1 apparently yeah it is around £3k mark-up.

Yes mate, well £2700 to be exact. Coupled that with a Pioneer BDP-LX70A BD player at £750, Pioneer VSX-LX70 AV receiver at £900, Pioneer S-V810A 5.1 speaker package at £1250. Then came another £800 for a Spectral stand and £550 for cables and I then realised I'd gone a bit ott! Outrageous expense I will admit, but I have kit that is still top of the line and will be for some time to come. Some people cannot and will not justify that kind of expenditure on such items, but if you like your films/TV and want that cinematic experience then go for it I say. Each to their own at the end of the day mate.

Yeah you got a very good setup there, guess it's all in a big lounge or another room ?.That's what i want to do only it's for a bedroom. Approx.measurements are L 7.5m by W 3.5m with a 4 door wardrobe in an alcove to the right of the bed about 70cm away. The chimney breast is behind the bed and two window frames to the left (front of house). The bed is at the right side of the house & look across the width of the room. Also i don't need the speaker package ( got fronts already ), maybe buy a dedicated bd player. You reckon some wall mounted bookshelf speakers would be ok above or by the side of the bed MrRa ?.

It shouldn't really matter tbh mate, especially if you are using an AV receiver that uses a mic to do an auto setup and calibration of the speakers, but if you are doing a manual setup then you may have to play around for a while with channel levels and speaker distances to get the right sound and effect for the room you are using it in.
