What AV reciever to work with a htpc?
Got a media pc that has a radeon hd 4670. I am looking for a new av reciever/amp that I can feed the signal into and then the amp will send the signal to the tv.
The amp has to upscale to 1080i/1080p and has to be able to "see" the signal from the htpc
(current amp which is some oldish sony unit doesnt see the pc signal)
Also some decent ish speakers 5.1/6.1/7.1
Does anyone use anything like this and what would you recommend?
Im trawling through avforums as well but its like info overload
cheers

Harman Kardon AVR 255 7.1 AV Receiver from Futurehome
DENON AVR1909-SIL at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc.
I bought the AVR255 last year. If you search on avforums you'll find the owners thread. A few of us bought them for 450 pounds because a particular shop decided to sell them at that rather than the RRP of 600 until HK told him off.
I wanted the Denon 1909 because I like the look of the Denon and it had 3 HDMI in whereas the older Denons only had 2. I bought the AVR due to the special price and although it doesn't have lots of widgets and silly features what it does do is have excellent sound reproduction. Looks very understated and the on screen menu is very easy to use. My only criticism is that it will either automatically choose how to emit the sound (DTS, True DTS etc) and when in manual it will only give you the options the source can provide (ie if the source is providing Dolby PLII you can't choose DTS) sounds obvious but I found it awkward at first.
At the time it was Onkyo Onkyo Onkyo and I just didn't want one.
I've got it hooked up to my Quad Lite rosewoods.
DISCONTINUED QUAD L-ITE 5.1 SPEAKER SYSTEM - available from Superfi UK Visit http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/product_id/2479 for details
Sound is very good from these and I've seen a price of 2,000 pounds when they first came out. Highly regarded and the sub can has a remote for the crossover.
Oh, and the wife always has a giggle when she says "Harmon Kardon" dirty minded cow

I like the Pioneer but it only has 2 HDMI in and I needed 3 - PS3, Sky HD and my DVD player.
My PC is in a HTPC case (Silverstone) but thats only so it fits on the shelf. Its linked to the TV for downloaded films. I have the PC audio connected to the amp via a phono to RCA lead - I would prefer RCA to RCA or better but don't have the connections on the PC.

I only really need 1 hdmi input anyway from the htpc, that has optical out which currently connects to my sony amp and I have to connect the pc directly to the tv at present but want an all in one solution, The htpc has blu ray so thats the only connection I need. Xbox360 is component and the wii is something else
