Default Saturday 28th March, Treehugger hour!

I've been hearing about this on the radio the last few days, the mongs want us to turn off all our lights at 8.30pm this Saturday coming, could be fun on the roads though!

I'll be putting on every fooking light in and outside the house on, probably put the tumble drier on with a pair of socks in it too etc.

So what you going to do to waste some electricity and kill the planet a little more, points scored for the most useless waste posted

An admirable contribution Worth 6 points, providing all your lights are on too

Is this a similar thing as last year where they had a energy saving day/week/whatever ? Where there was a website with an online counter saying how much energy the UK was using in real time with a comparison to last year....

...And how it failed miserably, with some half arsed sandal-wearing statement saying it was down to it being slightly colder than normal, when the truth was nobody could give a ****

They've been harping on about this in the radio all morning, quote from the website:

You can support WWF’s Earth Hour, to show that you care about people, wildlife and the planet, by signing up and switching off your non-essential lights for one hour, either at home or at work, and encouraging everyone you know to do the same. Then have fun taking part – have friends over, hold a dinner party, play games with the family…

Sooooooo.....
Now because I don't like to sit in the dark, I don't care about people, wildlife or the planet...?
And to make a difference, my friends have to drive (or take public transport) to my house, to sit in the dark (or am I supposed to burn candles that were probably carried on a huge container ship from China?) and shed tears for the pain the planet is going through...?

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(and just for the record, not disputing climate change per se, just the assignation of blame to me and my fellow man for it and the ability to do anything significant about it seeing as how the planet has a well documented past of cycles of renewal as well as weather)

Time to swap the 24watt CFL in my flood lamps back to the old 500watt tubes and point them up at teh sky

I may use energy efficient lighting; but only to reduce my leccy bill, nothing else (as the CFLs are more damaging, environmentally).

Add the batman sign to your flood lamps for effect.

Why isn't there a web-site showing the live energy consumption of the UK (like they did the last time around)?

Don't forget, lighting is peanuts - so get your ovens, immersion heaters, electric radiators all switched on (preferably in the garden unless it is raining - obviously), and leave all yer doors, windows and curtains open

I wish i was a bit closer to London, 'cos i would be getting out my 18 million candlepower torch and checking out the time very carefully via Big Ben (obviously from outside the "you are a terry-wrist" zone)

Aha, found the tree huggers!!

Reducing the load (lol) on the grid, and then everyone switching on again after an hour is going to do more harm than good!

That is why I will be putting up the CHRISTMAS lights today and buying a couple more lights, oh and of course a chandeleer!
