Default Shuttle Discovery launches tonight.

After Wednesdays scrubbed launch, NASA tries again tonight.

Just a heads up for any Space Shuttle fans out there - Discovery is on the launch pad ready for take off at 11.43pm (UK time) tonight. You can watch this all live on NASA TV (watching them right now being strapped into their seats on the shuttle) here: NASA - NASA TV

Not as good as being there BUT the next best thing - God Speed Discovery!

I never fail to be impressed with the sheer power and engineering involved with a shuttle mission!

I think there is a 1 hour " hold " coming up. NASA had it as a 19:43 launch and Florida is currently 4 hours behind the UK.

I stood and watched STS105 launch and its was awsome... now tuned into this launch, thanks for the heads up...
Simply amazing to think of 37million horspower kicking ***! the sound pressure 7 miles away was enough to make my voice sound funny as it cavitated the air. mind blowing... but then the engines are truly amazing bits of kit...

Not too sure, but seems a lot of the time used during holds is pre-flight checks - coms systems, software, engines

Watched one before and it surprsingly quiet. Actually almost silent because of the distance you are away. Takes a while for it to travel. Awesome thing to witeness tho.

Heres a couple of our holiday snaps
