I live on the Beds/ Cambs border and its horse country!! Within 200 yards of my door, there are 2 stables and countless paddocks.

Today I was driving to the archery club down the country lanes and met a couple of young kids on horse back, the youngest 1's horse was being led by an adult.

Knowing I don't drive the quietest car in the world, I always slow to less than 20mph and under 1500 rpm (I've seen a horse bolt before, and horses make a mess of car).

First 1 passes me, rider was probably about 12, says thank you, adult and youngest then pass, and they say thank you as well

Really made me smile.

Unlike the muppets I met in autumn last year, on a busy 60mph road A road, at 8am (rush hour) riding 2 abreast!

You Puff, stereo to max, lean into the horn and rev your mota up just as you draw level - thats the way to do it!

They do have a right to use the roads though. Most roads will follow the old cart tracks if only for geological reasons.

I certainly does the heart good to meet some good mannered youngsters as you say. Maybe all is not lost yet!
