Blackberry discussion, and questions...
Just thought I would do ONE thread where the BB people can discuss things, especially with people getting them recently
So, here is a question for all the current users...
What applications are you using and would recommend?
Viigo is the new one I have found. Great for info on the move.
And Bubblepopper passes time like no other lol
Also what IM are you using other than BBIM ? And does it incur a date usage charge?

-bbalerts (diff color custom leds for sms, email, voicemail etc) (free trial then $8)- essential IMHO.
-buzzme- vibrates and rings at the same time instead of alternate- £free
-123spoof is fun and free
-opera mini browser £free
-bolt browser £free
-AP mobile news £free
-Google maps £free
Looking for a decent weather app but the ones ive got i wouldnt recommend.
Use windows live messenger- cant fault it.
BB 8900 running beta OS .174 which is the best yet by a long long way

Cheers mate, I shall look into the applicable ones for me
bbalerts sounds good , wonder if its available for the 8320... probably not lol
My OS is 4.5.0.124 and far better than what I upgraded from
Do you pay for the data on your Windows Live ? What network you on?

orange
bbalerts is available for 8320 IIRC. I have mine set to purple for sms, blue for emails, white for eveything else.
Download trial here: BByMel Software then if you like it purchase from handango.com
There is a similar one called berybuzz- which is probably a little more advanced, and you can set a diff color for each email account, but i found it made the led too bright !

With Orange, I assume you have not had to pay to use Windows Live then? That will be a result for me lol.
Cheers for the replies

Right, calling all current bb owners, how much data do you (on average) use per month?
Just been on the phone to orange and they do 500mb in the package. 98p per mb after that. I have no idea if that's enough or too little.

500mb is a fair bit though, unless you are looking to stream data, which in general is not included in data packages.
The Storm is not useless as such, just loses the point and practicality of a BB by being a touch screen.

The forces.
You can save time filling in reports at scene rather than having to go back to the station to fill in a duplicate form. Less time in the office, more time spent catching crims

free wifi spots, thats what i want. every one seems to use btopenzone or the cloud. can the bb display what wifi networks are availble and method of encryption. i take it connecting to the internet via a wifi connection will NOT count towards your 500MB monthly limit on voda
also does the bb try to coonect to the internet in a certain order i.e wifi,hdspa,3g,gprs,2g (fastest to slowest). can i force the bb to connect in this way. im thinking 500mb is might not last that long. then again i might be talking out my ****
