Someone I look after has recently been having 4 cans of normal red bull a day. In the last few months he's gone from having no caffeine in his diet to having 1 a day and this has recently increased to 4 a day.

It has a high caffeine content so it's probably not good for the liver. I can do 6-8 cans on night out (with vodka) with no adverse short term effects, as for long term I'm not sure ..

Is it not much stronger than a cup of coffee though?

I lose count of the amount of coffee I get through in a day - strong as possible and looks like tar for me.

There was a warning in the media-don't ask me where,a while ago saying that people were suffering eventually if they overdid drinking the stuff.

A mate of mine did the same, relied on Red Bull, Relentless etc to get him through work and late nights etc and after a few months started feeling very very ill, stomach pains, nausia etc... and when he stopped the caffeine drinks, started to feel better... he can now only manage about 1 a week without feeling bad.

You only have to google it to see the warnings... anything and everything from stomach complaints to death, hummm...

I had heavy night out where I had about 10 cans+ with vodka, I eventually went onto vodka and cola, but for about a week after I had a twitch on one of my eyelids and a muscle spasum in my leg just above my knee. I do still drink it, though not in that quantity.
I don't know if it's me but it doesn't have the same effect as it did in the early to mid 90's

Red bull has about 75mg of caffeine (about the same as a single starbucks espresso shot), more than 500mg would be considered bad and you could expect headaches, anxiety, heart palpitations and stomach problems.
You can also get ups and downs associated with other addictions and having sugar in the mix will also give mood swings as well. At 30 odd grammes of sugar EACH, they're probably blowing the guidelines for sugar intake as well.

I try not to have more than 4 decaffeinated shots in a day or I do start to feel it.

Blimey that's a lot!

I once went to a club night with free booze through the company I worked for (Rip Curl). I was really wiped out and so had a double espresso on the way then ten vodka Redbulls at the club. I felt like a head with no body and looked a bit like I was having a constant fit!
Never again...

I have, in the past, consumed large quantities of vodka & Red Bull, sometimes a whole nights session after an afternoon on the beer. However waking up at four in the morning with your heart doing 180+ bpm was a bit scary. Great hangover cure with a bacon and cheese baguette and lots of HP sauce.

Drink enough of any drink with caffeine in and you'll get the collywobbles.

I once drank 4 cans of red bull and took two pro plus tablets at the same time! Frightening stuff, i ended up cleaning the house from top to bottom as if it was a race. I felt agitated and couldnt sit down, i could even feel it wearing off as if i was having some sort of come down.

I used to have a girlfriend who would do that on speed. Whenever I thought my house needed a spruce, I'd invite her round a feed her a gram of base - within a couple of hours job was done.

Had I read this before I'd saved thousands!

Can't stand Red Bull. The smell of it makes me sick, but as for caffeine, or sugar for that matter, it seems to have zero impact on me.

Once I'm feeling tired, I don't think any amount of either would pick me up.

Safety fears Ross Cooney, 18, was a healthy basketball player, but died in 2000 just hours after drinking Red Bull.

The student from Limerick, Ireland, died after sharing four cans of the drink with friends before a basketball game.
Not being funny, but what sort of person thinks Red Bull is anythng other than Caffeine. He did it to himself so now the people of France can't get to drink whatever they like as over doing it might harm them. Strange how Wine is exempted from that little ruling!
