Looking on the MLR 6 Evo's have been stolen in the last 2 weeks.

Last March we had 5 Impreza's stolen in one weekend.

Anyone know why March brings the car theives out?

the above car is my husbands car, he is obviously a member on the mlr forum, i copied the below from mlr to give us all a little insight into why our pride and posessions go missing around this time of year.

QUOTE:

"The obvious thing I've already noticed is the Peaks always in March and November....Now when I worked for a pharmaceuticals company that imported latex medical grade gloves from across the water they had to order the containers 3 months in advance to the day they were needed to comply with the shipping regulations and booking systems.....Is it possible that there is a spurt in those months as November to March gives them their three months minimum notice for the booking of the containers and 1 month to find the cars.....Containers leave the last day in March hence why April goes back to being quiet?"

Its heartbreaking isnt it - you spend time and money and look after these cars only for some toerag to nick them and ship them off to Nigeria (or wherever) right under the noses of the authorities. They could make life VERY difficult for these thieves if they cared to do so, or if they applied themselves equally well as they do to persecuting criminals instead of motorists.

RIP my much loved STi V too. Still very sad and angry even after 4 years have passed... No Scooby Sprint place for me

I'l keep my eyes peeled.

Didn't have one on when he got it,and his insurance company said it made no difference, also it was approx 5hours from when it was roughly stolen until reported(so a tracker wouldn't of helped anyway)

Sorry but I bet the insurance company didn't say it made no difference!

Trackers are really good things and I wont own a performance car without 1 now!

My tracker is a motion tracker that so even if the car is jacked up while locked and armed the Tracker will call me to say what's going on!

On the Tracker thing, I asked my ins Co if I could have a discount on my HUGE premium if I paid to install one on an RS4 and also paid the subs; they said no. Guess what I did..? That's right spend it down the pub and put a 30p switch on the ECU !

heartbreaking it is, i have posted on lots of threads where people have had cars stolen and you put sorry mate etc but until it happens to you, you can not put into words how you feel and how your veiw towards people, cars change. my husband just cant come to terms with the fact it is gone, like you say its not just the money its the time and effort and the pride you put into it

Container shipping does not really work like that, I can ring up and have a container in 24 hours to just about any address worldwide. You would need someone to falsify the Bill of lading here as well of many other steps such as loading high perforance cars in containers proably doesnt go unoticed by the lorry driver etc etc

Containers are very cheap at the moment (75% reduction from 12 months ago) so its possible this could become at little more widespread

What insurance company is that you are with fella ? As "Most" Insurance company's would welcome a tracker because that means if it's stolen 90& of the time they get the car back in 99% condition and don't have to pay out!

I got £200 ish off my tracker with AS plan

no our insurance company said it would not make any difference, the insurance company are - keith michaels, whom insure high performance cars did not require our car to have a tracker fitted, maybe because we had a thatcham 1 approved alarm fitted and we live in good postal area.
