Default Cycle trailers for brats

Does anyone use these? I ask as the kids, though still young, are probably big enough to be plonked in a trailer and can then join me and the missus in a bit of cycling exercise on the weekend (which is currently not possible without getting a babysitter in to look after them...)

Are they any good/safe/useful? Thought of getting one in which they can pedal too

The other option is of course Home Alone and chaos on return LOL

how old? you can get trailers, or "bikes" that clip onto your seat stem so they get to peddle also.

He's almost four and she's almost 6. She's behind on the cycling as there isn't anywhere to do it safely here in town or our garden.

Thanks for any advice.

Well, I borrowed a mate's brat trailer... It clips to the base of my seat. It makes my bike very wobbly as it locks on at such a high centre of gravity. Couldn't really take a hand of the handle bars to indicate a right turn - not good.

Older kid (5 1/2)loved it, younger (3 1/2) couldn't cope (despite 'Bob' elbow and knee pads. I'll be handing it back. Not safe for the very limited road use I had to undertake on the way to our traffic free trail.

Still, there's always the Beemer or Evo - they (really) LOVE me dumping the clutch at 5k LOL

We had one of the 'tag along' attached bikes that went on the back of my hubbys bike - dughter loved it & we got loads of use out of it. She liked the fact that she could pedal, or let dad do the hard work!!

We found it very safe (she never fell off) though she did have a tendancy to removing both hands and feet at the same time trynig to do some sort of star pose!!

We have now progressed to twin Kayaks which is a whole new ball game................!
