Thumbs up

Tropic Thunder is a great laugh. As a bonus it's an action, war, comedy film.

In Bruges is well worth a watch

I'm not normally a Colin Farrell fan but thought he was excellent in that

I got Once Upon A Time In The West given to me for Christmas too, that is a film truly deserving of the term Classic

I can recommend two horrors that are a cut above the rest.

Eden Lake - set in Britain, a young couple's idyllic weekend away is turned into a living hell when they have a bad encounter with a group of local teenagers. This is shocking in that it is probably only one step removed from reality.

The Mist - low budget horror that on first appraisal seems to be the usual cheesy horror fare. However, Frank Darabont's (Shawshank Redemption) script lifts the film way above the usual standard. The effects are a bit low rent, but the charaterisation is top notch and the ending is truly astounding!

I really struggled with Eden Lake, mainly because I was completely unable to sympathise with the main character
All I could think while watching it was; If he hadn't been such an arrogant w@nker in the first place, maybe none of it would have happened

Rocknrolla is good, if you liked ****** and Lock Stock, you won't be disapointed. Step brothers is funny, as is Tropic Thunder.

Best two films I've seen recently on 'dvd' are Slumdog Millionaire and Gran Torino. Eastwood is superb in the latter!

Yeah I know what you mean, but don't think he quite deseveed what he got.

What I found uncomfortable about the film was the peripheral undertones that were so true to life in the UK these days such as the 'My kids wouldn't do anything wrong' attitude of the woman in the cafe.

It was very well observed and lol at the car that steals his parking space near the start

Agreed with In Bruges and Eden Lake. Great Films.

If you can get your hands on pre release stuff then Id also recommend

Slumdog Millionaire and Gran Torino as STi says
Defiance
The Day the Earth Stood Still (Got bad reviews but I actually liked it)
Lakeview Terrace (Tackles racism, coming from a black copper to his interracial neighbours)
Eagle Eye
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Righteous Kill
The Boy In Striped Pyjamas (VERY good)
The Crew (British Gangster film)

The one with John Travolta playing the bad guy, I haven't got a clue who the star was but he definitely wasn't Dolph Lundgren

Is Death Race bad?

I'm expecting it to be considering the director and the theme but does anyone have anything good to say about it?
