Did you see the stupid **** on foot

Tougher sentencing is what's needed, hit them with big fines, and use that money to compensate the poor train drivers who've actually hit others of their fcukwitted ilk

Oh yeah, and neuter the *******, get them out of the gene pool

But surely an ounce of common sense would tell you not to event attempt to cross the tracks when the barrier is down.

If you cross when the barrier is down then there should be a stiff penalty as you're endangering the life of the train driver and all the passengers.

What complete bollox

Every other country in the western world gets along fine with automatic barriers And indeed without thousands of miles of intruder proof fencing

The UK is the only country that holds its rail companies responsible when trespassers get themselves maimed on railway property too

We need as a nation to quit putting the rights of fcukwits and retards above their responsibilities
Mother Nature figured out long ago how to filter defectives from the gene pool, it's about time we just let her get on with it

I would like to point out that unless the barriers are being monitored locally by a crossing keeper or via CCTV (expensive), local councils require there be an escape, so if the barriers do come down and you are to slow you can leave by the gap left.

If you live near New Malden (Home of Krispy Kreme ) you'll know there's a level crossing just up the road.

The reason IMO why people jump them is because whenever the barrier comes down its at least 4-5 minutes before they go back up again. And at least 85% of the downtime theres no train in sight. As the barriers tend to go straight up as soon as the train has cleared the crossing.

If they were down for 30-60 seconds before the train ACTUALLY passed people would accept it more.

Is there a station on the approach to the crossing?

Yes. Which makes it even more daft. IMO. The train is stopped. The fact it's within 300m surely should be irrelevant. All the systems have to do is trigger the gate first, then 30 seconds later trigger the green light for the train

One question, what happens if the train cannot stop in the platform?

The train cannot be signalled into the station unless the crossing is down and confirmed to be clear of *** ends inside the barriers.

HTH.

Too dangerous, especially if someone went through the gates accidentally. The real answer is for us all to learn a bit of patience.

That idiot on foot is at the station I go to each morning, saw it in the paper today. Its simply to avoid paying for a ticket. The other entrance has barriers, and this doesn't. Its not even a through road anymore as it just leads to another train track for the Eurostar, but it is a 20 odd foot high fence shielding that.

I see what your saying but when you cross from mainland Spain to Gibraltar the barriers come down to wait for the planes to land. It can takes 10 minutes.

Don't see many people jumping them.

Let me see, hmmm, wait five minutes or take my chances with a 500 tonne metal tube that cannot deviate from its current path and takes several miles to slow down, travelling at 50 mph plus ?

Tough one that !
