Since I stopped going the gym
I decided to take a months break, as per many peoples advise. A month to relax and let my body recover.
However since I did that my body hurts more .. I get sore if I stretch .. if I lean over to pick some up, or if I lean on my side or chest for a couple of minutes.. I've been the docs and they sounded my back and chest and said nothing there ... basically deal with it... its not pain, just annoying ..
I'll be starting again in the gym Monday so will take it easy .. just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on why, or whats happenin to me.

I'm a steel erector and I've not been working much for a month or so. Feel weak and out of shape already. If you don't keep pushing yourself you very quickly go in the opposite direction: downhill!

Depends..... everyone's tolerance and definition of pain differs.
If you are someone who played rugby etc at school and has kept up physical activity since so are used to normal levels of discomfort following heavy activity but are experiencing pain relating to none physically stressful activity then it might be worth going to see your gp again to exclude other causes for unusual pain eg check blood inflammatory markers

Your becoming a weedy Mortal.
I was going to say it's probably delayed muscle soreness, but seeing as you aint hit the gym yet ????.
If it's actual pain and not soreness then it would be wise not to go try lifting anything heavy.Having a whole month off if you haven't done any form of exercise could be something to think about why your as stiff as a corpse.Try doing some light cardio work like jogging, cycling, walking even,to help start to loosen up/supple,get some Oxygen into them muscles.Might be worth loading up on some supplements, creatine, glutamine, protein, seeing as you are starting back in the gym,it would help to give you a bit of a kick start and feed your muscles with a bit of nutrients.

There you go then.
I do a physical type jobby and when I have a couple of weeks off for christmas I ache like fukc for some reason. It takes a few days back to start feeling fitter again.
But then I really am an old codger.

Pimmo - been doing weights since I was 16 (now 33) and find that if I don't do them for a bit due to illness or injury, I get pretty stiff and feel a bit irritable.
Totally made up/guessed (by me) but I think having blood going around your muscles at a fast rate just sorts them out - have often "fixed" an ache or a twinge with a weights session.
Eggy - I might be able to help but depends what you are hoping to achieve. If it's full on bodybuilding then I'm not yer man, if it's training to benefit sport and fitness, I may be able to assist.

I have been in the car this week due to the ice and I have noticed I dont feel as good, reading the cycle forum made me think that perhaps I would be better waiting for ice free days unlike some on there with broken collar bones, knees and elbows, im keen, but not that keen !
